2.) Just the basics (ketchup, tomato, lettuce, etc.). No fucking nasty ass mystery sauces.
3.) Decent buns that actually taste like bread, not cardboard.

Though, being fast food neither Wendy's or Sonic is perfect, but far, far better than anything else.

Wish the Sonics were more common in my area. Last time I ate at one was on the way back from a trip to Indianapolis (about half of the state away from where we live, up pretty close to Lake Michigan), but it was good. The cookies n' cream shake was awesome.

Anywhere local, aside from Subway and In-In-Out, has crap for food. I will not eat anything more substantial than a milkshake.

Of the really big fast-food chains, Wendy's is the only one that serves burgers I like, with Burger King being servicable, and McDonald's making a burger that looks unappetizing even in the wrapper.

I can really only eat their Chicken McNuggets, but I really do like they're nuggets. Otherwise I sure as hell can't see myself buying all this additional crap they're adding. If I want pizza I'm going to a pizza place, I sure as hell wouldn't go to McDonalds.

While they aren't exactly common, the Dairy Queens that have a fast-food section make fantastic hamburgers.

Maybe I'm just a cheap tight wad but I just can't justify paying 8 bucks for a burger. I'd just as soon make my own at home. For that kind of cash I'd much rather get something slightly more upscale than a burger.

But isn't that the point? Many people *are* being driven to more expensive places or just making their damn own (ironically, in AU you can make a burger for way, way cheaper than McDs charges you). McDonalds is in trouble, and they don't seem to be changing the right way.

Which is why I love Hardees. Especially since they took the axe to most of their menu and trimmed it down to mostly the basics (though they've started adding more recently).

Come to think of it pretty much the only time I eat at McDonalds is when I don't have the money to get anything decent elsewhere.

While I have not seen any McDonald's close here I do agree with Wong's sentiment that McDonald's is in trouble. As for being too close, check this out, near my house there are two McDonalds in the same shopping center. One is a stand alone retail shop and the other is inside a WalMart. They seem to get enough business for both however.

My principle problem with McDonalds is that the product is really bad. Compared to Jack & Box, In-n-Out Burger, Wendy's, local mom & pop places, etc, McDonalds is shit. I think their commericals about people bringing back McDonalds are hilarious. If you don't eat that Quarter pounder when its really hot it will taste like crap. No way I'm eating something brought back from down the block.

I think McDonalds will continue simply because they offer a low price point, but to really make gains they probably need a corporate make over.

I absolutely REFUSE to touch anything from McDonalds unless there is NO other option. Last one I ate at willingly was in Barstow Arizona. I was heading back home with my folks after a week visiting my grandmother (when she was still alive). I got a big mac (since thats one of the few burgers that were still made worth a damn) and my mother ordered a quarter pounder. I noticed right off that the beef pattie on both mine and hers were colder than usual. I tore mine in half and noticed IT WASN'T EVEN FULLY COOKED! Hers was the same way. I took the burgers back in and went straight for the manager. I didn't give him a hard time since they were PACKED with customers so accidents are bound to happen. He switches out the burgers and all was good, right? Wrong. I check the patties and guess what I found. Yup! Those patties weren't cooked either. Thats when I came unglued. I let the manager know right there that under no certain terms that I found this completely unacceptable, and that I wanted a FULL refund, and that I would be reporting this to the local health officials. I also recommended that he find out who the hell was on the grill and fire his stupid ass. Even the damn highschool dropouts at the local sonic wouldn't do something as stupid as this!

And FUCK YOU BK! Fuck you with your stupid ads, and FUCK YOU for buying out all of the local Hardees! Their food is FAR more palatable than your garbage! You get far more for your money too. The closest Hardees is nearly 80 miles away.

I'm noticing a big differance in quality between North American McDonalds and european McDonalds, esspecially in Israel. Maybe its the meat preparation or rules regarding leaving meat out.

It's been pretty much over a year since I last ate a McDonald's, and looking back now it almost seems as if I have been subconsciously avoiding going back - Generally when I can't be bothered cooking my own food I'll go to the chippy or Indian take away in the next village. Occasionally I'll treat myself to a kebab or one of the 16" pizzas offered by the kebab house in Rhyl. Even when I went down to London for a bit the only fast food places I went to were KFC and sometimes Burger King.

It's been a year since I conciously chose to eat at a McDonald's, Wendy's or other such fast food.

Other than a recent nightmare I had about eating 4 Whoppers and hating myself for it, no ill effects yet.

I don't plan on going back, even if there would not be any other options. I would, and have just decided to not eat instead, I can survive missing a meal, especially if that meal would be from McDonalds.

Just jumping into this thread, but I gotta say, if I want a deli sandwich I'm sure as fuck not going to McDonald's for it.

And if I want something bad for me, I'll just roll past Little Caesars, pick up a pizza for five bucks, and split it with someone. Then we're eating for $2.50 each, instead of five or six bucks each for shitty combo meals.

My fellow SD.netters, I have sinned. This morning I went through the McDonalds drive through and picked up some pancakes. I know I had no dinner last night because I was flying late, and I wanted to get to work early this morning, but still that is no excuse. I spend at least the last year and a half 'McDonalds' clean', but now I have to start over again. I don't think Jesus himself could forgive me for this, but can you?

What the hell? If you wanted pancakes, why not go to the IHOP or Denny's? For shame... :P

I was pressed for time. I did go IHOP a few days ago, ate half there and brought the other half to work. I do that every now and then but even at four in the morning it'll cost me at least 30 minutes.

Meh, doesn't shock me so much since in my opinion he sort of cheated, or at least made the rules so flexible that he would easily get the results he wanted.
