Y'know I'm not usually one to compliment my own Government, but it's the police being arseholes in this case, not the Gov, they're not involved.
And there's no such thing as an English Government. There's a Scottish Parliament, A Welsh Assembly, and the British Parliament, but there's no English Government.

I didn't see a no stop sign in the picture. Usually, garage doors must have it, and then it would be legal for the police to tow the car. At least, that's what happens here. As for this case, I've already towed many cars, vans and even small trucks out of mud/sand. Sometimes, a jeep can be very handy on the road.
In England, the Law tends to protect the guilty (in my mind). I think the person who parked on this man's drive is trespassing and the owner of the property has every right to eject the unwanted vehicle.
Who in fuck's name would protect the anonymous driver here, especially as he's severely inconveniencing the homeowner? Only a cockmonkey!
The Law is definitely an ASSHOLE here!

I have a sterling idea for crippling England's economy...

I Wonder why they changed it?Under the reign of Elizabeth I, any person found guilty of "harboring a Catholic priest" would be tortured or even hanged. Any priest of the Catholic faith that was caught would be hanged, drawn, and quartered.
OK..The severest Penaltys will be suffered by any commoner who doth permit his animal to have carnal knowledge of a pet of the Royal House )
Right..It is illegal for a Member of Parliament to enter the House of Commons wearing a full suit of armour.
Punishable by death! .. Errrr..Committing suicide is classified as a capital crime

I've been looking into Britain's sex laws, and anal sex is perfectly legal, actually.
We only have one capital crime - High Treason, so that one's wrong.
And the TV licence is NOT a dumb law - I like not to have adverts interrupt my TV vieiwing.

I don't understand why the guy doesn't just call a private towing company. In the States, at least, the garage will charge the car owner, not the property owner, for the tow job. The police only said he can't break into the van, which is perfectly understandable (if I'm illegally parked on campus, Public Safety can't break into my car to remove it, only have it towed away).

Hooyah!
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

The British government is determined to make its populace unable to do anything without official approval. Destroying property rights is just part of it.

What *I* want to know about this story is, WHO would be driving along, and think to himself, "Hell, I don't live in this neighbourhood. I don't know anyone around here. But damned if this doesn't just seem to be the BEST place to park my van, right here in this total stranger's laneway. Yes. This is EXACTLY what I have to do. Then, I'll wander off for a couple weeks and hide and pretend that I forgot where I put my van. And if, for any reason, anyone TOUCHES my van, I'll sue the shit out of him."
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.
