Executor "Dreadnought"

Cov, ROTS has in-your-face video of these weapons. They're fucking ENORMOUS. Did you really think 'lolz, they are teh weak' when you saw them?
Your characterisation of an ISD as a 'mid-size heavy capital ship' infuriates me. They are *common*, but they're multirole and designed for speed. Mid size compared to what? We've got Executor and Death Star as the high end, remember.

It infuriates you? You need to chill out a bit. I already agreed you guys were right anyway. And midsized compared to things like Dreadnaughts, Carracks, VSD's, Nebulon-B's, and Corellian Corvettes. It's bigger than those--all of which would be light destroyers or frigates now--and smaller than things like the Star Cruisers from novels and SSD's. Midsized. Not a small picket ship, not a huge battleship.
And dude, I already said, I never saw RotS. I was only comparing ISD's and TradeFed Battleships from Phantom until Surlethe gave me more info on their performance changes in RotS. I never read the novels either, so the extra embellishments always elude me until someone can bring up quotes.
Anyway, the debate should be done. I wanted to find out what was the truth, and the truth is a TradeFed Lucrehulk is a lot more powerful than I imagined. Or does that infuriate you too? ;p

What are you talking about?Huh? You're saying those big goofy horse-shoe ships could slap an ISD around? I don't think you really have much foundation for saying that.
The Clone Wars upgraded ships had hundreds of long guns, quad guns and heavy guns installed all over their hulls. Even the core ships had clusters on it. Don't talk about issues you know nothing about.
Well, there's the Mandator Star Dreadnoughts. I reckon Procurator Star Battlecruisers usually operated alone.the larger cruiser-class vessels the Venators were described as escorting?
There's also an Executor-like vessel pictured in SW Tales 21 (first canon issue) patrolling an "important" system along with Acclamator-like frigates.

Yeah, I was wrong. Read my more recent posts.VT-16 wrote:What are you talking about?Huh? You're saying those big goofy horse-shoe ships could slap an ISD around? I don't think you really have much foundation for saying that.

I saw that now. =)
Here's an image of the big Republic ship from Tales 21:

Pretty cool. I like that--it merges the Acclamator's wide design with the more gunny-mindset of the Venator. The side view on the far right seems to have a more elongated bridge still, but otherwise lookin' a lot like an ISD/Acc hybrid. I wonder when they decided to shed the fin. Probably VSD-era, eh? Once they lost the ability to make pretty landings and takeoffs from dirt. Or do you think they incorporated it somewhere else into the design and that 'tail' was no longer needed?
It infuriates me because you're fucking clueless and you cling to your ridiculous preconceptions until torn off them. That shits me - you're both ignorant AND stubborn.
The fin on Acclamator is apparently a super-huge hyperdrive that makes Acclamators some of the fastest ships in hyperspace despite their size.

Oh, I was looking at the Acclamator-y ones. The one in the lowest left is a ship? Interesting. Without the rest of it I can't really get a sense of scale, but it's got a bunch of that same mid-ship garbage not shielded by hull plating that you get on the SSD's. I guess that could be a good indication of it's large size--since we only see that kind of extra detail added to a ship design once it's gotten larger than average.VT-16 wrote:Hmm, now I'm confused, are you looking at the Acclamator-lookalikes or the big ship in the bottom left?
As for the Acc--you think that's a hyperdrive? I suppose Wikipedia says so, but I remember it being referred to as both a repulsor sled and a radiator fin. It should be mapped out in the ICS.
According to the ICS; only the very rear tip of the 'tail' is the hyperdrive. The rest of the 'tail' is Antigrav repulsorlifts and power systems cooling neutrino radiator grilles.Covenant wrote:Oh, I was looking at the Acclamator-y ones. The one in the lowest left is a ship? They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
