I dislike the Vong not only because they are cliche biowank, but because their victories came about because the good guys were idiots.
They have everyone in the NR behave like headless chickens and lose a bunch of worlds, then they get it together and suddenly the Vong get their ugly scarred asses handed to them.

Any change in the status quo wouldn't last, it was inevitable that there would be a panic about changing Star Wars too much so now, with Legacy, they think they are falling back to SW's roots.
They fail to see however that they're just producing a mindless rehash. Or they do see it and just don't care because the fanboys will eat up this unoriginal fanwank garbage anyway.

Regardless of the qualities of the Vong themselves, they seem to have destroyed the SW part of the EU. Post-Vong, we've got not-Jedi, not-Republic, everyone is old/dead and replaced by lame characters, etc. The appalling writing, and the writers taking themselves to seriously, means that if a non-fan picked up a post-NJO book, they'd probably wonder when the Star Wars part was going to start.

I feel your pain, yet the best of NJO is when they actually deal with the war, rather than a significant majority when the 'war' is background and they go for 'other shit'.

Rebel Stand and Rebel Dream (is that right?) along with Star by Star are amongstt he better of NJO if the EU.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Don't mean to hijack, but is either one of those the book where Wedge cuts loose and proceeds to kick the vong's ass at Blackmoon, then jumps in an X-wing during the evacuation and proceeds to school a bunch of 'skipper pilots?

You know that's another thing that annoys me about the EU.
How the main characters tend to "hold back" and let the bad guys do this and that until they run in like Popeye with his spinach and save the day all by themselves.
They've done this to death, with Luke especially.

Not so much about Wedge *though they are some good points* but it marks a decidely vast difference amongst the NJO in which it is about the *WAR* and not some excuse for characters to go and do something with the war as a backdrop. The best of the NJO is about the Vong invasion and the GFFA or NR's response to it when it gets around to it.

The abstract excuse certain writers make to have certain charaters go about 'other' bussiness while this major war *not a brushfire war* is happening is the utter nonsence that most people *IMO* bitch about in the NJO.

When it actually deals with and articulates the war, the NJO is actually pretty riviting.

I see what you're saying, and I suppose I'd have to agree. I would have loved it if they had more scenes like the one at the begining of Agents of Chaos II, with worlds turning into mini-Halo 2 Earth's, each one going to hell faster than the last.

I really dont think that the second picture was made by Ostrander and Durresma (Sp?) I mean looking at the 2 together you can clearly see they have a diffrent feel to them. The Great Great Grandson Quinlan in that picture is much much off model then privious pictures of him. Im sorry son but it looks l ike you got some gay fan work picture there on your hands

The cover of Legacy numero tres:

Were I to guess, I'd say the woman at left is the princess mentioned in solicitatins, daughter of the man in the middle, who I'd guess is the new Emperor and a descendant of the Solo side of the Skywalker-Solo clan, and the Twi'lek at right... her name's Astraal Vao, and she's some kind of courtier, maybe?

Let the bitching continue! :P

Seriously, are they FORCED to make every single chick some gun wielding Lei wanna-be? Those guns even look like the originals from the first SW in ANH. GEH!

And what is this obsession with snake-heads!

Do a lot of people WANT to fuck an alien? I sure dont. I dont know about you but i get enough fucking-variety with all the races, people, ages etc that exist on Earth.

I dont need, want, nor have any inclination to screw some blue chick with tendrils on her head.

Is she hot? Yeah i guess. I cant see what she really LOOKS like, if you dig my ditch. For all i know she's like Londo Molari under that dress! GAH!

She looks all hot cause she's wearing a dress and a push up bra, but she takes that skirt-pants combo thingy off and you might have some horrible tragedy.

That's actually the intent-- the covers of the fist six issues are designed to hearken back to the promo shots of the OT (ANH, specifically). I doubt the unnamed princess will be carrying Leia's sporting blaster in the actual story.

Actually, the Rogue-lookalike's pistols look like Walther PPKs, although I can't imagine why a blaster would need grooves on the side. (The grooves on the side of an automatic pistol's slide make it easier to grip it when you need to move back the slide and load/cock/unload the pistol.)
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

The man in the middle has an AWFUL costume. Body armor does NOT look good with a skirt, because one part of his costume says, "I'm protected by armor, I'm ready to fight," another part says, "I don't want to fight, my skirt interferes with the running/jumping/kicking I'd have to do in a fight." And why is he wearing pastel colors? [Insert macho rant against "girly" colors here.]

Okay...

Then explain, what is the purpose of nearly every Twi'Lek being A--female, B--outwardly attractive, C--provocitively dressed?

I'm not the one associating wierd ass alien chicks with hentai tenticle demons for heads with sex.

Appearantly though someone at LucasArts does...maybe Georgie has a fetish we dont know about.

None of it looks at all like armour to me.

I think it's strange how you automatically associate it's role in combat performance, considering the fact that it's formal cerimonial dress.

Just because a portion of clothing is possibly made out of metal doesn't automatically make it armour.

Judging by that promo shot, the "Princess Leia"-character has quite a set of gazoongas. Maybe this won't be so bad, after all.

*Wakes up*

Oh, what a terrible and OOC dream!
