Your irrational & quite stupid fears...

Post by DocHorror »

Okay this has probably been brought up before, but what improbable thing are your terrified to death by?

Me, I get bone numbingly terrified by those Great White Sharks that can leap 12ft out of the water - I think they only lurk around south africa - but still I wont go into the watrer because of them...

When I was a kid, I used to be deathly afraid that I would be swimming but unable to come up for air because there'd be a layer of glass in the way, like in the horror movies. I don't know if a movie inspired that, or just strengthened it, but I used to never go all the way underwater.

Weeds. Swimming in deep water and getting tangled in weeds (they're alive you know!) and drowning a few inches under the surface... *shudder*

Stupid fears...that having no hair diminishes a man's sexual appeal.

I fear newness. You know, doing new things, going new places, talking to new people, etc. I of course do them anyway because if not I'd never get anywhere, or accomplish anything, but they still scare me to death.

Massive insect invasions. Especially when I was swimming; I'd thought be overwhelmed and surronded.

That someday the stupid shall inherit the Earth. Of course looking at the U.S. I am beginning to think it is not so improbable.

When I was around 6, I used to be afraid of continental drift for some reason (It's going to be another everal million years before the Atlantic Ocean dissapears, and there's no monsters lurking in Africa.

Something that keeps me scared is the house catching on fire in the middle of the night, while I'm trying to get to sleep.

Deep water, small boats, the sun going red giant, some insects. Usual stuff.

There was a nightmare about a jump tarantula....

But right now, I'd say the fear that my Hep-B vaccine failed and what was picked up was the real virus. I mean, the vaccine is supposed to deal with this, it's why they give it to you, and it was only two years ago.

I like to go skiing, however, I am afraid of skiing on the highest slopes.
Anyplace above the alpine level. It gets really bad when Im on a catwalk next to a cliff. I start to snow plow and freak out. So places like the very top of Whistler, or Squaw. Those places scare me.

I think its a combonation of wide open spaces with no depth perception and a fear of sheer drops. Im not afraid of planes. But when I look over the side of a tall building I get very uncomfortable.

I was afraid of heights. Then I started rock climbing...

I'm a little bit afraid of spiders (fear increases exponentionally with size and hairness...)

Fear of relationships and commitment.

No hair at all? Or just no chest hair?

I knew a girl that preferred no chest hair.

My irrational fear... spiders. Small ones I can tolerate. Big ones (not tarantula size, just big) scare the shit out of me. Why? They're poisonous... they're unpredictable... and I never know if one can jump or not.

Good categorization, since men can be ultra-sexy when they're bald. :D

I don't know how to classify this, but I'm sure other people have the same fear, so I'll just lay it out there.

I'm afraid of not finding someone who loves me for who I am, with whom I can spend the rest of my life. I'm afraid of living alone and always wondering what it would feel like to come home at night to someone waiting for me to eat dinner with, to watch bad TV with, and to curl up in bed with every night.

I guess afraid isn't really even the word for it; I'm not really afraid of much. I guess it's more accurate to say that thought saddens me. :(

Hmm, I guess in short I'm afraid that all guys are like Ando. Scared of relationships and commitment. :D

Bright Headlights at night

I get a kinda paranioa going around when people drive big vehicles, with their Hi-beams on, at night, even when there's plenty of illumination, I think they are out to get me.
