Except it actually appears to be both original and good, unlike any of the things you mentioned.
I'm wondering if the big black crosshair replaces the mouse? It appears that the trailers was recorded off a screen, so maybe it's an overlay. *AND* I'd like to see how it handles zooming-to-strat when you're looking sideways.
EDIT - AND I want to know if all the formations and organised movement was carefully orchestrated for the trailer, or if the game actually allows you to line up your dudes and have them path together when attacking. I doubt it, but you've got to dream right?

I think the big black crosshair is actually the edges of the TV screens. I think they had at least four screens connected to form a larger screen.
I don't think GPG is that stupid to draw a huge, ugly, black crosshair across the screen. All the screenshots never had anything like that.

Wow, Stark liking something?!Stark wrote:Except it actually appears to be both original and good, unlike any of the things you mentioned.
The crosshair appears to be some overlay. the GPG has been taking screenshots from the same 'game' as they improve the engine. I recognise basicly all of the major screenshots which have been released so far for SupCom and they are all from the same map + game.I'm wondering if the big black crosshair replaces the mouse? The big black crosshair was pointing basicly the mouse pointer, consider how hard it would be to see a normal mouse pointer on a big screen. You also see those crosshair's move around in what would be the logical way for the mouse to move too
The air transports are running on some commands which make them pick everything up in an area, wait till they are full then fly to another area and offload, then fly back and repeat.EDIT - AND I want to know if all the formations and organised movement was carefully orchestrated for the trailer, or if the game actually allows you to line up your dudes and have them path together when attacking. Or so sayth the devs.
Also I should be able to get a BT link to the full video

Yeah, the pointer is certainly the centre of the crosshair. I was wondering if that was a post-game thing, or if you could play the game like that.Xon wrote:The crosshair appears to be some overlay. the GPG has been taking screenshots from the same 'game' as they improve the engine. I was really referring to the regimented ranks of troops that were waiting, and the way the naval and ground units hung together in a very non-RTS way during combat. The planes didn't seem to be flying in a cloud, but in arrowhead formations... the first RTS with totalwar-style formations? That'd be nice. The air transports are running on some commands which make them pick everything up in an area, wait till they are full then fly to another area and offload, then fly back and repeat.

I want to believe they may have gotten it right, especially considering the complaints regarding TA pathfinding, in which land pathfinding broke down after you passed a certain number of units, and naval pathfinding... well, naval pathfinding was never quite right. Chris Taylor really seems like the kind of guy who would say "alright, we've got to try and get these things right this time around".
My one primary wish is that the game has a coop mode. A mode where you have multiple people playing on the same team. A commander divies out control of units to certain people. Someone runs resoures, another runs defense, an airforce commander.
"If the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If neither is on your side, pound on the table."
"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."

Dunno about divving control to certain people, but the single player does have a coop mode.Alyeska wrote:My one primary wish is that the game has a coop mode. Games like Myth did it well. You have two teams (some times more). One person leads the team and gives specific units to specific people. Well imagine being able to do it in a RTS and have people handle specific jobs.
Singleplayer coop eh? Kick ass.

After watching the raw full video, it appears to be the centre of the screen. But everything moves around it so it looks like a cursorStark wrote:Yeah, the pointer is certainly the centre of the crosshair. I was wondering if that was a post-game thing, or if you could play the game like that.

Damnit Stark! After I saw the full video, I was happy. I really wanted the game.Stark wrote:It's definately 'next year or later'. But since everything we've seen so far is from the trailer they made (I assume) for E3... how much of real gameplay are we seeing? How much is scripted, orchestrated or edited together?
Now that you said that, that happiness is gone, and is replaced by worry. I had that happiness for less than a minute before you killed it!
But on a serious note, I don't think we're seeing that much gameplay either. To take screenies from it, they must have had the trailer done months ago. You'd think they'd have something better by now.
