Need CPU Temp, Mobo, and OC Utils for an AMD
Athlon64 3700+ on an Amberine M mobo.
MBM 5 is right out, because it takes one look at my hardware and goes ':shock:Wha...!!???!?!!!:wtf:' I'm interested in mobo temp/volt montoring and slight OCs, not big huge moster-mickeys like Ace's Tom's Hardware article.
Google doesn't seem too forthcoming; I miss my pretty little temp/volt gauges!

Oh great, why do I end up with the rare shit? I'm not knocking the Amberine; it's a really good keel to build a nice battleship on after all, but why so uncommon?Ace Pace wrote:Since its a rather uncommom mobo, here's what I found.
HP branded, ASUS made first generation ATi motherboard, Northbridge is the RS420(?) and Southbridge is the Sb400. Can't find shit yet.

Ein, when you messed with MBM5, did you try going into the settings and trying different sensors? I had to do that on my old Asus A7V, and on my previous mobo (Leadtek K7NCR18-D Pro).

I like Lavalys' Everest Home Edition, but they discontinued it! I guess to make more money. It might be lurking out there somewhere, but I could probably send it to you if you want to try it.
I've found PowerStrip to be an adequate overclocking utility.

Is 49 to 51 degrees Celsius ok for a CPU+motherboard? Athlon XP 2400+ and Asus A7V8X-X? Or is that too hot?

Yeah it is okay, but it's a bit high, which translates to less fudge-factor for OCing or heavy gaming purposes. My Athlon's a solid 39C right now.Enigma wrote:Is 49 to 51 degrees Celsius ok for a CPU+motherboard? Athlon XP 2400+ and Asus A7V8X-X? Or is that too hot?
Try opening her up and vacuuming the crap off the heatsink --in fact vacuum EVERYWHERE!--, rewiring everything for better airflow, and finding better arrangements for components (both internal parts like cards and drives and external like moving the box itself out of that corner for example). Don't detach the heatsink unless and until you know what you're doing, have thermal paste and correct knowledge as to its use, and (optionally) have a better HS or CPU to upgrade to anyway.
