Question about MAGNETO...
Why is Mr. Eric Magnus Lennsher regarded as so badass? He can do the whole uber-control of metal thing, but AFAIK he's neither telepathic nor precogniscient. So a hitman hiding a mile away with a .50 sniper rifle should be able to do him in.... his powers mean nothing if he does not see coming the shot that kills him.

Because he constantly projects the stupid uber EM 'character' field...Marvel has ramped up his powers to the point that nothing can pretty much hit except when they want it to.
So hitting Mags with a .50 cal while he's soaking up some rays would do nothing in the Marvel verse unless he's crippled or needs to go into 'hiding'.

And sadly Magneto is telepathic...not Xavier level but enough to resist Xavier to some degree.

Has Marvel really made him telepathic? ::ugh:: Last I heard/read (several years ago admittedly) was that he had an "indomitable will" and his helm further went to improve his resistance to telepathic attacks.

God. This is why I don't read Marvel comics any more.

Oh let's not forget...they have now shown Wolvies true origins(until they believe they can milk more money), and decided to rewrite the whole Phoenix saga, and last but not least...Charles Xaveir has a twin sister...who of course is evil and has his powers(and somewhere they decided to make Beast Gay and in love with a chicken/man)!!!
I gave up reading a good deal of mainstream and basically borrow from a friend...but more for how far they'll rewrite history than seeing if they are improving anything.

Are you talking about Ultimate X-Men? It has no continuity with the other titles. It was like an update to the original. Same as the other Ultimates.Aya wrote:Last time I read an X-Men comic, he was a good guy because he had no memory of being a villian. So, he reverted back to being a bad guy?

Re: Question about MAGNETO...
Magneto (in the comics, not necessarily the movies) is capable of creating electromagnetic force fields that will deflect the Hammer of Thor. His magnetic powers are sufficient to throw tanks and even warships at his enemies.Acclamator wrote:Why is Mr. Eric Magnus Lennsher regarded as so badass? Magneto has some minimal telepathic abilities, but more importantly, his force fields block psychic energy up to and including psychic attacks from Professor X.
And the CIA knows full well how hard it can be to assassinate a particular person who has significant resources and doesn't want to be assassinated (they tried and failed to get Fidel Castro for years). Your hypothetical sniper needs to determine when and where to find his target in a vulnerable position, and that's no easy task. Magneto surrounds himself with superhuman bodyguards, and he has used his powers to create outstanding body armor for himself. The man is *not* an easy target.

Actually, they discovered that he can sense disruptions in the electromagnetic field of the earth to the point that Assassins with bioweapons, Nukes, rifles etc. couldn't hurt him.
At one point they sent a russian Spetnaz in a shielded suit, with a plastic gun, with plastic bullets to shoot him while he was standing over his first wife's grave in Latveria (Apparently Doom and Magneto are cousins), and Magneto was able to sense the guy because there was a blank spot in his EM sense!
BTW, he'll be back, character's in Marvel make Krychek and Apothis look like wimps in the Dues Ex Machina department. At least in Wildstorm they STAY dead "Most of the time".

As for the whole Beast is now gay angle...Grant Morrison has decided to make him more cat-like(he literally looks like a giant cat...I kid you not) and because of this, he feels he cannot date women(don't ask...Tigra is cat hot babe...rrrrrrrwwwwor)and thus since Trish Tillby no longer digs him he has become attracted to men.
Yes, men and for no reason other than he's a giant cat and he gets dumped for even a lesser reason(she's now uncomfortable?!!...let's give a rousing woo-hoo for the continuity at Marvel).
So there you go, become a giant cat...you get to be attracted to men for no reason whatsoever.
If they are going to make a character gay...do it better than turn into cat...suddenly you are attracted to men because we need a new angle that makes a character more risque.
In other news...Jean Grey isn't Jean Grey but has always been the Phoenix force...Jean Grey died Issue #100
Thank you Grant Morrison.

Ok, the last X-Men comic I had, this evil clone or android of Xavier formed a new X-Men team, it was around the sametime that NightCrawler, Kitty Pryde and Collosus decided to return to the X-Men. So, what happened to that team?
Also, please tell me none of the other X Teams have been fucked over, especially X-Force.

X-Force...is gone dead and buried.
Cable is now babbling fool who has little to do with Cable of old
Apoc is dead and buried until they need a dumb villain again.
Havoc is likewise dead until such time he is needed again.
The Legacy virus is cured but at the expense of Collossus life(actually a decent issue both his death and his wake)
The X-team now opened it's door to all and any mutants since Genosia is a hole in the ground.
Moria McTaggert is dead and buried
And oh yeah they split the team into two groups again for no other reason than Chris Claremont wants to write about men with breasts again(or mostly X-Woman team acting butch with two guys acting like pansies...perhaps he's improved but eh)
And you missed a whole slew of stuff in between...but ask I will give
Right now this is all I can easily recall

How exactly did they get rid of X-Force? Why did they kill Havok and Collosus? Have they screwed with Wolverine?Ghost Rider wrote:X-Force...is gone dead and buried.

Just PM me your specific questions and I'll knock them down.
Mostly because you've pretty much missed a lot of stuff that would derail this topic into the abyss.
As for simple answer X-Force literally got destroyed because Marvel wanted something fresh, Wolvie has gotten even more screwed(believe me), and Havoc's death is because he's stuck in limbo and Colossus' would take way too long right now
