vs.

Infernal or infernals from Warcraft 3.
Who wins?

Ah, yes.Scorpius wrote:I've played WC III and these things always freaked me out and drew my attention away from the real danger, which were the hero characters that were dishing out the real damage. They were easy to take down with one or two hero characters and a lot of projectile shooters (archers etc.) ganging up on them. They were also pretty stupid, attacking the nearest building and not taking out my hero characters.
I'd say the Balrog was nastier for all the reasons in the above posts and because in Fellowship they didn't even think about fighting it...
Except that it won't if your playing the patched version.Captain tycho wrote: Do you know a simple Wand of Negation will kill those suckers?
Or any dispelling spell?
I say Balrog.
Infernals are cool, but Balrogs will win any day.
Except that we can see hundreds of Infernals crashing to the Earth in the second cinematic.

Question: Would you stand and fight a 20 metre tall winged beast of fire charging towards you, with your bastard sword?Scorpius wrote:I'd say the Balrog was nastier for all the reasons in the above posts and because in Fellowship they didn't even think about fighting it...
The Infernal's damage isn't physical though. Also, Infernals are immune to magic, though I don't know if that would help against the Balrog or not.Alferd Packer wrote:If we equate the Fellowship to low-level heroes (save Gandalf, he's a high level hero) and send them into combat with the Infernal, it should be relatively easily defeated. Seeing as "Swords are no more use here" in the case of the Balrog, we could consider him immune to physical damage. Given that, and the fact that Gandalf ONLY just squeaked out a victory at the expense of his life, I'd say the Balrog wins this one hands down.
Doubtful. Even if the Balrog's sword and whip become usless, it stoll holds the advantage in a slugging match.gravity wrote:The Infernal's damage isn't physical though. Also, Infernals are immune to magic, though I don't know if that would help against the Balrog or not.
don't forget the bloodthirster of warhammar, it too follows the classic image of a high-end deamon. In any case... I don't think that the Balrog in the movie was designed after Diablo, but rather, they are both based upon a typical vision of high-ranked demons
Or the demons in Baldur's Gate 2...starfury wrote:don't forget the bloodthirster of warhammar, it too follows the classic image of a high-end deamon. In any case...
