Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie score
Much as I love John Williams' themes for Star Wars and Indiana Jones, I've gotta go with Basil Poledouris soundtrack to "Conan the Barbarian". I just don't think a movie score has ever fitted the mood of a film and character so well. I'd give William's score for "Superman: the Movie" the nod for runner up.
Anybody else got any favorites?

I always really like the Mars theme from Gustav Holst's The Planet suite. It's been in a ton of movies, usually when the evil mothership appears. Very cool. Makes you want to grab your sword and shield and go kick some butt.
Besides SWs, I really like the music from the original Superman too, especially the theme when we first see the Fortress of Solitude.

Starship Troopers is actually pretty cool, despite how much the rest of the movie really sucked..

There will never be a resolution in the evolution vs creationism debate because neither side can conclusively prove that they are right. The creationists can't prove that they're right becuase they're not, and the evolutionists can't prove that they're right because the creationists are too damn stupid to listen.

The song "I Will Never Love Again" is one of the most painfully beautiful songs I have ever heard.

I really like all the theme music from Stargate:SG-1. The main theme, and even the little tidbits from the bumpers.
I also really like the music from Blade Runner. I always liked Vangelis, and the music really helped set that noir feeling of the movie. The soundtrack has a few little snippets of dialog from the movie too.
One of my all time favorites was the music from the Flash Gordon movie. In short, Queen rocks. Silly movie, but awesome soundtrack. I wore out one of those tapes in the fourth grade, the left channel eventually disappeared from playing it on a crappy tape recorder. Actually, any Queen soundtrack music is fairly good: Highlander and Iron Eagle(?) come to mind.
Remember that One Vision song? Listen closely to the last part, where they sing "One Vision" to end the song. Listen to the delay/reverb, and although they say one vision, the echo is of them saying 'fried chicken'. Hilarious.

It's cool, I liked it too Queen rocks! The Highlander opening theme was fucking awesome. "I am immortal, I have in-side me blood of kings!"Drewcifer wrote:Yeah, I know, about as cheesy as you can get, but I really liked it! I didn't say it was good, just that I liked it

That's only true on the album version; the single version has the 'proper' delay goingDrewcifer wrote:Remember that One Vision song {by Queen}? Yeah, that song is blood stirringDalton wrote:...Queen rocks! The Highlander opening theme was fucking awesome. "I am immortal, I have in-side me blood of kings!"
I always really liked another song from that movie/album, "Who wants to live forever"Freddie Mercury wrote:Here we are / Born to be kings /We're the princes of the universe.
Here we belong / Fighting to survive / In a world with the darkest powers.
And here we are / We're the princes of the universe.
Here we belong / Fighting for survival / We've come to be the rulers of your world.
I am immortal / I have inside me blood of kings
{and later in the song}
Fighting and free / Got your world in my hand
I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand
We were born to be princes of the universe
No man could understand
My power is in my own hand
That would be one of the worst things about being immortal in a mortal plane: watching those you love pass and knowing that it would always be so.Brian May wrote:There's no time for us
There's no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us
Who wants to live forever,
Who wants to live forever?
There's no chance for us,
It's all decided for us,
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us.
Who wants to live forever,
Who dares to live forever,
When love must die.
