The Allied States of Masurep is a tiny, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 6 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Healthcare and Education are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 24%. A large private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Pizza Delivery.

Voting is voluntary. Crime is relatively low. Masurep's national animal is the turkey and its currency is the kwaher.

In the profile of your nation, it'll be described as the private sector, just after it mentions tax rates.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there more to do than address a single issue per day..?

My goodness, recently I worked out in some detail my perfect government. Unfortunately, I forgot to write it down, so I'll have to work on that again.

Bystander, if you go to options, you can make it so that you get more than 1 issue per day. It really depends on how you set your settings. You can also do other things, but those usually take place on the forums.

I remember when we used to have a huge SD.net region - there must have been 50 nations in it back in the day! I have to be honest, I don't have a clue why so many people play. If my nation wasn't so powerful, I wouldn't bother. :P

UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Very Good

Regional Influence: Minnow

The Protectorate of The Intelligentisa is a large, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 40 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 18%. A robust private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Soda Sales and Information Technology.

All major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras, education and welfare spending are on the rise, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is moderate. The Intelligentisa's national animal is the cat and its currency is the shak.

And I'd rather not try to support a national healthcare system on that tax rate.

The Empire of the Orange Coast
The Empire of The Orange Coast is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 31%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Trout Farming.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. The Orange Coast's national animal is the griffin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dalor.

We have a national health care system?

*goes off to execute a few ministers for letting that one happen*

And you don't HAVE to sell your kidney. Point is, you CAN.

The kwaher. Comes from Chris Stasheff's A Company of Stars: Book One of Starship Troupers, and is worth one kilowatt-hour of energy. Simple and universal, since one always needs energy :D.

edit: me type English good.
