Final Fantasy VII Date Scripts? (possible spoilers)
I've always wondered just what happens when Cloud goes on a date with someone other than Aeris (who, despite my best efforts, has ended up as my date both times I played through to that point...even when I deliberately tried to date Tifa!). I found a FAQ on GameFAQs that explains this: Aeris starts out with more "date points" than anyone else, and also manages to gain them easier.
It seems Square really wanted you to date Aeris.
Anyway, using this same guide I plan on taking their steps to deliberately date Yuffie, because I'm curious and I think it'd be fun. But I'm also wondering what goes on with the Tifa and Barret dates. While I'd love to see it myself, I also know it would be a major-league PITA to have to start over again to do everything I need to do to date either of them (especially since my one and only PS1 memory card is too full for me to make even more game saves...).
So I was wondering if there were pics/video/text/a combination of the Tifa, Barret, and Yuffie dates. I know the Game Script on GameFAQs uses the Aeris date, and I already have that one saved on my card anyway. So I'm wondering if anyone could help me out on this one.

Maybe. But that's why I'm only doing it for the goal of dating Yuffie and not going to bother trying for Tifa or Barret.Stark wrote:You're mad. All that work, for nothing. NOTHING. A different blue bubble with white letters. MADNESS.
Besides, it's been so long since I last played it'll almost seem like new to me.

Yes. I made the mistake of playing through most of the Midgar portions again (up until the Shinra building, for which I had a dedicated save spot, since before I bought the soundtrack that was the only way I could listen to the full theme of the Shinra, which is badass). And I did it recently, too.Stark wrote: I got the PC version to play through again, cause it's cool... but I never finshed it. By the time I got to Junon, I'd remembered everything and couldn't bring myself to lift the controller again.
So now I'm going to have to slog through that part of the game all over again. *sigh* Oh well, at least it's been years since I did the Kalm flashback sequence. I have that to look forward to at least.
Oh please, do share if you remember! What happened?Admiral Valdemar wrote:My first time I dated Aeris, as is normal for the game. My second attempt, I got with Barret. That was... interesting.

It starts with Barret basically coming to your hotel room and asking if you want to go out for the night, to which Cloud asks what kind of a date is that, and Barret goes all Mr. T on him for thinking that way. It's awkward, you do all the things you did with Aeris, but you basically discuss the group and the mission, IIRC. It's been a while, but I'd rather see what Yuffie is like too. I'm sure I had Tifa at one point too.
I heard, at the end, Yuffie gives you a quick kiss. She's apparently the only one to do so (got it off Wiki I think). Which is mostly why I'm interested.
But I am indeed curious to see what a date with Tifa is like. And Barret sounds like it would be fun.
EDIT: Too bad he doesn't dig his Sailor Suit out for the date. And Cloud his Ms. Strike outfit...

I remember reading somewhere that Yuffie slaps Cloud several times during the date...

The PC version of the game was such a poor conversion. One of my favourite things about the PS version was the soundtrack, which was brutalised in MIDI badness for the PC. A great shame - FF7 is my favourite game ever and could have been made perfect on the PC, particually because I have a PS pad that I can use with the PC.

Buy the PSX version and run it emulated on your computer. The PC version costs a bomb to buy now, but the PSX one is cheap as chips. I've got a Playstation style pad for added authenticity. You can up the resolution and apply some filtering/anti-aliasing to the textures. It doesn't make a huge difference, but it does help.
I got the date with Tifa once. I'm surprised you couldn't get it; it isn't that hard. Just snub Aeris and compliment Tifa at every opportunity. I didn't need a walkthrough or anything.
Anyway, it's been years, but IIRC, nothing really significant happens with her. I think she talks with you about the past or some such, probably getting Cloud to remember what really happened, I guess.

The HUGE walkthrough in GameFAQs (The 1069K one) has transcripts for all four dates.

Ha! You too? I remember when I was playing that game the first time. When Quistis invites you to the 'secret area' where teenagers go after curfew, I thought Squall was going to score for sure.Vendetta wrote:I pretty much always get the Tifa date. Aeris, in the long tradition of Final Fantasy romantic interests, annoys me greatly. (seriously, FFIX is the only one where I actually cared at all about the supposed "interest" character. In FFVIII I wanted to slap Squall for not being all over Quistis.)
Then he tells her to talk to a wall.

Who ever said Aerith was the supported one? Hell, all the evidence points away.Vendetta wrote:I pretty much always get the Tifa date. In any case:
Tifa's date: Takes cloud on same attractions as Aerith, slightly different reactions to play, on gondola mentions that she needs to tell Cloud something, cannot, and frets about how being childhood friends makes telling Cloud what she wishes to tell him difficult. Cloud agrees- This is notable because it is the most cooperative he gets with any of his dates, and because it suggests he too has something he wishes to tell Tifa that he finds difficult because of knowing her so long.
Yuffie- Same as above, until Gondola... Basically, she starts getting flustered trying to tell Cloud stuff, then decides to kiss him. He just sorta sits there. After awhile she says "Hey... say something." To which he responds "...something". Slapping ensues.
Barret- He wants to have a man to man talk. They skip the play, and Barret talks to Cloud about various things, including Marlene and how paranoid Barret gets about her sometimes. Cloud spends most of it thinking sarcastic responses to Barret's lines.
For the majority of the game Cloud moons over her to the exclusion of pretty much everything else. (She's also a prime case of Special Girl Syndrome. All the romance interests in FF games, and many other RPGs, are the Special Girl. Last of their race, blessed with special powers, a princess on the run, whatever.)Ryushikaze wrote:Who ever said Aerith was the supported one? Hey, Tifa was pretty 'special' too...don't you remember the orthopaedic training bra?Vendetta wrote:For the majority of the game Cloud moons over her to the exclusion of pretty much everything else. And yeah, Garnet/Dagger and Zidane seemed to be a much more realistic romance than those found in FFVII, FFVIII, or FFX.
