RThurmont: i agree totally with what you're saying man, i was saying (not as clearly unfortunately) the same thing really. Lucas needs to take a more proactive hand in the EU, or discount it, because if not it will be flooded with hacks like Traviss and ruin the entire franchise and that would just break my heart cause SW has been so important to my childhood. I'd hate to see it Jump the Shark.
More so, he lets the fans handle matters too much, for good and ill. Instead of doing the 'hard work' himself its up to sites like this and Saxton's books to do what is, basically, his job, he never states anything himself or wades into what is PRECISELY canon or not, he lets his peons handle it. When peons handle such things...well we see what happens dont we? One word from Lucas "This is canon, period" and something like this could be ended before it begins.

Unfortunately, I don't think Lucas has the time to sit down and resolve all disputes of this kind, even if he cared enough to want to do so. And they have said what is the highest level of canon - the movies and works based directly on them. Observations, the ICSs and the like override the opinions of hack writers. The fact that the hack writers and their fans do not want to accept this shows that they probably wouldn't even care or realise what it meant if Lucas himself said: "Well, you're wrong. I-it's good work, you know, it's a good book, but... your idea of the Clone Wars is way off."
They're like little Darkstars in that way...
You know, don't you think this whole mess would make a rather interesting story for a new "Final Flamewar" thing? It could be called "Final Flamewar: The Enemy Within"

If so, he's a moron. There's no way shit like that could hold up in court. Maybe KT herself doesn't like it, but AFAIK, negative criticism and opinions are also allowed under free speech laws. Any of her libel bullshit would be easily shot down, because she isn't a nice person nor can she take it when she's critisised, which, if nothing else, is easy to understand from reading her blog.FTeik wrote:Side-question: Can it be, that the owner of TF.Net tries to cover his ass in case of legal problems? Such as someone as KT trying to sue him, if nobody buys her crap, because people on his boards claim it to be garbage and her not being a nice person?

My recommendation honestly is to maintain the heat and pressure on her. Honestly there's very little we can do, and she's really making the controversy surrounding her more ugly and a liability for LFL because of her extremely thin skin and fragile ego. Just keep pushing her over that line.Lord Poe wrote:I was banned for the post above. No answer yet on how long the ban is.Mange the Swede wrote:Why were you banned, Lord Poe? (Is it a temp- or a permanent ban?) IMO you haven't done anything wrong. I simply don't understand...
Its clear CUNT Traviss (I hope she can see that here) is directing TFN to ban specific people.
Anyway, we should roll out the red carpet for more TFN regs to come here. They can be guaranteed their posts won't be deleted or edited for speaking their mind about "VIPs".

Well, if we keep that big topic still on the front page of the TF.N, it will certainly push her over eventually, even if we didn't criticise her work directly. I suspect the mods are just waiting for a sorry excuse to lock the thread, and I think the opposing camp might well provide it, despite the fact that the opposing camp is merely justifying our stance.

If any of you guys who've been watching this debate but haven't, yet, gotten involved want to help out then please do so.
At this point, it would be useful just to have numbers. Karen's been whining and saying how few of us there are, and so the more people that disagree with her the more ridiculous she'll appear and the more pressure LFL will be under.

I've considered it, Ossus, but honestly it's just going around in circles now. There's nothing new to discuss, and it's just the same tired old arguments being used again and again.
To be blunt, I'm over the whole thing. Traviss's retconning is wrong, period, and hopefully it'll be fixed sooner rather than later, but beyond that I don't care anymore. I won't every purchase anything involving her again, and this includes her part in the LotF series and any Insiders with her stories in them, even if my little boycott isn't going to do a thing.

I doubt George gives a damn about the numbnuts over at TF.N. As long as they don't start disagreeing with him or going against the movie cannon.ray245 wrote:Would a petition to Lucas work?

Actually you would probably be banned from TF.N just for thinking those thoughts.nightmare wrote:I'd probably just end up deleted again.

Sorry for the necro, but apparently the VIP rules over at TFN doesn't apply to everyone:

Well, Saxton doesn't bitch to the admins and threaten to sue every time some moron criticizes him.
Besides, over at TFN-Lit McEwok practically is a VIP.
Apparently it's escaped his notice that Acclamators look a LOT like KDY Star Destroyers. No, it must be Saxton pushing his pro-Kuat agenda!

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal. -Tanasinn

Would Mickie have preferred it if the dagger-shaped Acclamators were Damorian, Corellian, or Mon Cal ships? Making the manufacturer of ONE prequel ship the same as the manufacturer of an OT ship that closely resembles it is "objectively bad continuity?Thrawn McDumbfuck wrote:I'm not attacking the author. I'm saying there's been a tendancy in recent years to attribute major warship stuff to KDY to the near-total exclusion of other manufacturers; I'm saying that this has happened to an extent that it becomes objectively bad continuity

"They're not triangular, but they are more or less blade-shaped"- Thrawn McEwok on the shape of Bakura destroyers

"I've already laid out rules for this thread that we're not going to make these evidential demands"- Dark Moose on supporting your claims

You know, what Saxton did with KDY is actually very good continuity. Saxton was the one who came up with the idea of KDY marketing their ships as the ones that were winning the Clone Wars, positioning themselves as close allies of the government. That explains why it's the dominant shipbuilder in the OT era. I'm still banned, so can somebody please point out this little fact to McEwok?

Someone should sig it, with a brief explanation that this overemphasis is ONE ship (the Acclamator). I would, but my sig is already filled with a quote of McDumbass blatantly denying reality.

Well, nothing changes in the TF.N, so long as McEwok and his jibbering brood are still there.IceHawk-181 wrote:Man, I leave for a few weeks and JR gets banned, Ewok stopped arguing, and the fools are back to invalidating any source that does not coincide with thier views.
Good to see I haven't missed anything
McEwok just hates someone who has successfully done much better in the Star Wars publishing world than he has. I shall hope that stays as a fact.
