why would Thrawn still need C'Baoth if the rebellion is already crushed? Or why would he have to fear the Noghri if there was no one to show them the treachery of the Emperor...

Thrawn would hear about the situation, play the remaining moffs and other power figures, like Isard or Zsinj against themselves and rule the galaxy thru immense tactical and strategical know-how... the Vong would be utterly crushed under the massive Imperial war machine under his lead

BTW: i wonder how long it will take until some crazy EU-writer implies that the Rebellion was founded by the Vong to weaken the Empire
As long there is gravity, ride on...

What? You mean you don't know Mon Mothma is a Vong in disguise? I've also been suspicious of Fey'lya, first during the Trawn Trilogy causing disruption among the leadership, then being an absolute incompetant fool during the Vong invasion. Obviously his last stand at Coruscant was a way of him going back to the Vong without anyone from the New Republic realising it. Yeah, I'm onto him.

:D
Marcus Aurelius: ...the Swedish S-tank; the exception is made mostly because the Swedes insisted really hard that it is a tank rather than a tank destroyer or assault gun
Ilya Muromets: And now I have this image of a massive, stern-looking Swede staring down a bunch of military nerds. "It's a tank." "Uh, yes Sir. Please don't hurt us."

Ghost Rider wrote:While you may not have read it...the statement you protrayed is true and Tychu is leaving out ...that THRAWN KNEW THE REAL REASON he had the Nogri. And his personal Noghri was always there Tychu, not coming on in the battle. He knew the Noghri had met with Leia, he knew a whole host of facts...and in the end, he deluded himself to never think they wouldn't contact their assassin in Thrawn's presence.

So while you didn't read it, you comprehended his fall far better then dumbass who left out pertintent facts and mislead a whole bunch of red herrings.
Did he really know that they had met with Leia? Or was it a guess or hunch? It's been awhile since I read it, but I don't really remember him knowing that Leia had ever met with the Noghri.

But anyway, with the scenario in the OP it would never come up anyway. And there's no Reborn Emperor to plot his demise behind the scenes, either. So it looks like he's reasonably safe in this new universe.
