Lets see something smaller scale(like the Desann or Tavion attempts at Force-using armies from the Jedi Knight game series). Or if you can't get something like that published, try going the KOTOR style, you've got what 25,000 years of Republic reign to work with?
Fuck, go back to the rebellion era and tell some stories that don't center on the trio. Tell about the schmucks trying to do an endrun around the Empire with some intelligence about Derra 4 and have them all fail and die or something.
The Sith were in shambles. In-fighting among their ranks allowed the Jedi to thwart their dark plans. One last battle to end an era resulted in the extinction of the Sith. Or so it was believed -- one Dark Lord survived.
From the ashes emerged Darth Bane, the lone Sith who was able to foresee the inevitable doom of the misguided order, and learn from this costly lesson. He forged a new order of secretive Sith, plotting from the shadows, carefully rebuilding power a generation at a time for centuries until the revenge of the Sith could finally be achieved.
Who was this Dark Lord? What events forged the man who would split from the Sith ranks and entirely redefine the order?
Readers will find out in the forthcoming hardcover novel, Star Wars: Path of Destruction, A Novel of the Old Republic. Set over a thousand years before the events of A New Hope, and just prior to the events of the Jedi vs. Sith comics series, this novel by author Drew Karypyshyn is scheduled for release in October of 2006 from Del Rey Books. Keep checking starwars.com as more information becomes available.

Kotor was about 5,000 (-~6) years before EP$, Bane was about 1,000 years ago

Actually, the comic book named Knights of the Old Republic is set about 4,000 thousand years before the Battle of Yavin/Episode IV. Knights of the Old Republic PC/console games (KotOR and KotOR II), on the other hand, are set 50-54 years after Exar Kun's defeat. Nitpicking, sorry.

(Also, I'm sorry for not updating things here for a while. It's just that after the shit that was Dark Nest III, I needed to step away from the EU novels for a while (and its because of said book that I'm likely not going to pick up Legacy, but we'll see)
Alright, the synopsis for Book III of Legacy, "Tempest" and the cover art, have been posted on NJOE:
As civil war threatens the unity of the Galactic Alliance, Han and Leia Solo have infuriated their families and the Jedi by joining the Corellian insurgents. But the Solos draw the line when they discover a rebel plot that hinges upon the murder of a longtime ally and her daughter.
The Solos' selfless determination to prevent this death cannot dispel the inescapable consequences of their actions, which will pit mother against son and brother against sister in the battles ahead. For elsewhere in the galaxy, a once-forgotten menace, Lumiya -- Dark Lady of the Sith -- is tipping the balance of the Force once more towards the darkness...
Also, the kick-off novel, Betrayal goes on sale tomorrow.
Internal conflict threatens the Republic (sorry, the "Galactic Federation of Free Alliances" what a bullshit name), a Sith appears and threatens evil, blah blah blah, whatever. The plot is just the same cliches copied and pasted in a different order.

Yes, it would seem, that even with the chance at a new begining after the Vong invasion; we're back to the old same/same. Which is bullshit and boring. I just don't feel a compelling need to read these books anymore.

Corellian insurgents? I think I have read this book already.

Nope and that's what's got a number of readers, worried. Karen Travis, the author of Bloodlines and two other Legacy books is somewhat notorious for being a bit of a so-called Mandalorian expert and wanker...

I knew she was working on Bloodlines, but I had no idea she was going to be splooging all over Fett. It makes me wonder how many Sith armies he is going to be beating singlehandedly. God fucking damnit, the Fett fanboys already wanked him to high hell; Traviss should have just fucking left him out of it. Plus, he should be well the fuck into the damn geriatric years by now, even with SW medtech. Maybe she made him immortal, because Christ knows she has already made Mandalorians ultimate clone warriors of 100,000:1 kill ratio awesomeness. Ascension to godhood just the next step, I guess.
Seeing Fett listed there was like a slap out of nowhere.

You mean you haven't seen the cover of Bloodlines? Images of it have been around for some time. Link.

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Grand Master (human male)
Is Luke being classified as a Grand Master relatively new? Did he do anything to earn said title? Is there any actual significance to the title of Grand Master, like does it signify he's the most powerful Jedi around, or is it just a way of saying he's the founder of the NJO and the EU writers coming up with a more grandiose title for him just because he's Luke Skywalker.

Of course it's because he's the founder of the New Jedi Order. He's also the most powerful and knowledgeable member. Yoda was the Grand Master of the old.
EDIT--Also, I believe the first reference to him as such was from The Swarm War trilogy, but I may be mistaken.
Fuck, I guess I should have expected it. It will probably be just another unecessary connection between the PT and post NJO EU, just to try and get readers interested. Such bullshit, but then again i'm not going to buy this book anyway because Karen Traviss wrote it.

Heh, the more I see of PT stuff in the NJO era, the more it reminds me of the TNG references in ENT.
Though they've been referencing the PT in the OT era as well, so there's a slight difference. :P
I tried to quit the EU but i couldn't help it. I bought Betrayal yesterday. So far it's not blowing my skirt up. Seems to me to be a mix up of the Corellian Trilogy with the Jacen aspects reminding me of Anakin Skywalkers fall. Still on the up side it's not as shit as Dark Nest.
Marko Dash wrote:Boba as Mandalore doesn't even make sense, neither Boba nor Jango were true Mandalorians. They just had the training and armor.
AotC's novel describes Jango as a mandalorian, in fact one of the last ones left. IIRC, something about him being a young mandalorian when the Jedi destroyed the order/group/tribe whatever.
