Played "Hitman: Blood Money"?
Have anyone got hold of Hitman: Blood Money or any other game from the Hitman series? The basic outline of the game is
The gameplay is dynamic and the level settings are inspired; it does not feel like you're infiltrating generic terrorist bases, but trying to hit your target in a relatively mundane setting (like a secure rehab clinic or secluded villa). And despite the domestic settings, you still need all your skill to out fight and out smart dozens of security agents in each successive location).
The best level I played so far is "Flat Line" where you have to enter a luxurious rehabilitation clinic that has unusually high security and grubby little secrets hidden by both patient and doctor alike. You'll have to extract a undercover agent who's confined in maximum security medical block, plus bump off three powerful Mob figures who are are "rehabilitating" themselves at the luxurious establishment.
Security is very tight with the clinic grounds patrolled by private security officers and the Mafia people watched over by their own henchmen. You'll have to use subtlety to get in there and take them all out - often by disguising yourself or rigging up things to kill your intended target (like lacing their hidden bottles of booze with poison or dropping a chandelier on their bonce).
It's a fun game.

I've played every Hitman game so far, Blood Money is not going to be an exception. Finishing each mission perfectly without killing anyone you're not supposed to and never firing a gun is great- and then you can replay the mission with your arsenal and kill the fuck out of EVERYONE.

Been playing the shit out of this game. I'm about halfway through, and I have to say that this is hands-down the best Hitman game ever made. I liked 3, loved 2, and only played the demo of 1, but this blows them all out of the water.

2 was superior to 1 as well as three, btw. I'd say 1 is easily the weakest of the games.

About a month ago I picked up Contracts cheap at an EBs and, had I payed full price for it I would of been pissed. Compared to Silent Assassin it felt like half a game.
How does Blood Money compare to 2 in terms of length?

While I though both these games rocked, Contracts took the photo finish for a few reasons. The greater length of Silent Assassin is a point in its favour, of course. But on the whole, Contracts came across as far more polished, and several of the missions in Silent Assassin don't really make sense considering what 47 is. Much like the Colombia missions in the first game, I felt out of my element in places like the subterranean base in the desert and the "Hidden Fortress" levels. I was certainly very annoyed by that particular part of the game because the ninjas were at times both psychic and suicidally stupid. On the level after "Tracking Hayamoto", for example, gaining Silent Assassin was largely a matter of luck; you just had to do everything right and hope none of the stupid bastards walked into the truck's path. Such bugs never bothered me in Contracts.Anarchist Bunny wrote:About a month ago I picked up Contracts cheap at an EBs and, had I payed full price for it I would of been pissed. Contracts also managed a greater sense of variety. Instead of in Silent Assassin, where you played a few missions in the same part of the world, each level in Contracts was unique in that respect. And there was a lot more to do, too. In Silent Assassin, you had a few options, but it still felt the game designers were stringing you along; the options you had were put there to be followed in a straight and linear fashion. In Contracts, you could just make use of a certain possibility when it was there; choosing to do one thing didn't invariably dictate the next choice.
The first Hitman game felt like a good idea stymied by poor controls, odd design choices, and frustrating details; it was incomplete, with a great concept that still had to mature. In Silent Assassin, the producers had figured out the direction they wanted to go and delivered a workable game. But Contracts... Contracts took everything I liked about the previous games while stripping away all less enjoyable aspects. It gave me control of my character, which was my biggest beef with its predecessors.
And if Blood Money's even better, I'll probably be forced to marry it.

Here are the most improvements in Blood Money over the previous Hitman games, according to me:
1. Graphics. Game looks great and runs well on my A64 3000+, 9800 Pro system.
2. More intuitive controls. In "consolizing" the game (usually a negative term) they managed to reduce the number of different buttons required without decreasing the amount of stuff you can do. In fact...
3. More stuff you can do. In this game you can push people out of windows or over ledges, hide bodies in containers, use hand to hand combat both to KO people and to take their weapons from them, and other cool stuff that 47 should have always been able to do, but never could before.
4. Better missions. The missions are varied and interesting, and there are lots of different ways you can accomplish them. It's also better balanced than Silent Assassin. If you screw up, it's your fault, not because of psychic guards or sudden deviations from patrol patterns. Fewer ARGH moments in general.
5. Interesting story. So far, the content of the storyline and the way it's told has grabbed me more than previous games.
In short, it's by far the best of the Hitman games. The only possible problem with this game is that some people report problems getting it to run. I never had one single problem, but my friend couldn't get the demo to run on his machine without crashing or doing something weird no matter what he tried.
EDIT:
Thought of some more.
6. Evidence. This game has a notoriety system. If there's a witness, or you're caught on camera and you don't steal the tape, you have to pay to make the evidence disappear. If you shoot the place up, the damage control comes out of your earnings. There are also retrieval fees if you leave your suit or custom weapons behind.
7. Upgradeable weapons. You have custom weapons that you can upgrade with the money you earn on the missions. I don't use these much as I generally walk into a mission unarmed, but it's cool none-the-less. Also, if you select something big like a shotgun or M4, it gets placed in a hidden container for you to retrieve. You don't start the mission carrying it in plain sight like an idiot the way you did in previous games.
8. Silenced pistol no longer = god. One thing that always annoyed me is that previous Hitman games treated the suppressed pistol as if it were truly silent, even though a "silenced" 9mm is actually louder than someone screaming in your ear. In this game, the noise level is more realistic, so don't go plugging someone in the head with your suppressed gun unless you know there's no one in the next few rooms. It forces you to be more creative if you want the silent kill, thus increasing the enjoyment of the game.
9. Akimbo hardballers now an option. By default, you start out with just one Colt .45. If you want to do it John Woo style, you still can through an upgrade, but people like me who think it's stupid are happy with the one.

I like collecting every weapon in the game... but in Blood Money, you can't collect melee weapons... I found that to be a bit disappointing.
I'm not sure if I like the use and pickup buttons being seperate... guess it takes some more getting used to.

That always bothered me, it always took me right out of the game, as it exaggerated the rag-doll physics to an absurd degree.Ford Prefect wrote:Do the Ballers still have that awesome but also ridiculous shot effect which sends people careening metres away from you?
I like the single Hardballer thing.

I haven't tried the dual hardballers because I don't like them, but the single doesn't have exaggerated ragdoll physics. Only the shotgun at close range sends people any appreciable distance. That's another plus in my book.

GameFAQs is your friend. That's how I always got Silent Assassin (play once normally as best I can, then use GameFAQs to get SA).nickolay1 wrote:How did you manage to get that rating? It appears that GameFAQs has no guides at the moment. I did however find one to assist me through other channels:

It was linear because it was a tutorial. The other levels are not linear.

In Hitman: Silent Assassin my favourite missions were the Mafia estate, that opulent hospital in India and that Shogun castle in Japan; I loved that Shogun castle mission despite the preceding two missions being quite shit (treking across miles of snow avoiding watchtowers and hundreds of Ninja guards who could somehow see through your disguise).
I thought some of the missions in Hitman: Contracts were a little "meh" (especially the ones in China) but the one that involved a S&M party at a slaughterhouse was a very good mission. I also really liked the English country manor, that was a strong mission as well.
So far I like most of the missions on Blood Money and the only I genuinely dislike is "Death on the "Missippi", all the others have been smashing however. I still think "Flat Line" is one of the better early missions and "You Better Watch Out" is on a similar level to "The Meatking's Party". But "A New Life" is the best mission so far, even though it's relatively straightforward once you know what to do (like lace the donuts with poison and feed it to the Feds monitoring the street in a spy van ).
