Due to my summer job I will be without computer or internet acess for a month, starting some time later today.

I am an Area Director for a pair of summer camps in my area, and as part of summer camp staff I am required to live on the camps for the duration of the 5 week long camps we do.

There are restrictions on what electronics we may bring, mainly because we live for the month in easily broken into cabins and are supposed to focus on our jobs.

:)

I might be able to get a few posts up using the camp computer, but that is pretty unlikely.

Thanks.

Hello again, after re-reading through most of the STGOD threads, I do have a few questions. If this is the wrong place to ask, I apologize in advance, and would like to know where a better place to ask would be.

I'm interested in joining, and I've an idea for a small force. Although I'm still not quite sure of how the points are divided up, I'm willing to start at 3000 or less for a small regional power, as long as I can build this up. I've also a few questions about terminology and the finer points of the game.

Thank you in advance - this concept of STGOD looks rather interesting.

Keep in mind that I have absolutely no official standing when I say this:

Come up with your nation's background. Develop an Orbat that makes sense in the context of it(if absolutely necessary, do this in reverse order). Either Pm this to Spyder or SirNitram, the STGOD mods, or if you are feeling especially confident(read: cocky) post what you've got in the OrBat or Discussion threads(I personally recommend the first option).

Feel free to pm me with questions, and if I can't come up with a plausible sounding answer based onmy own experience, I'll frantically AIM Nitram and beg for help because I got myself in over my head.

Actually, I was speaking with Ace Pace about this yesterday. He suggested that I simply wait for the next game, as this one is already late-game.

I will work on what you suggested while waiting for this game to finish, and a new one to start, which should give me the extra time I'll need to acclimate.

Thank you, I believe I will, as I'd still like to learn about the finer points of the game. For now though, I won't jump in late.

Thank you for your reply - I'll be PM'ing you once I know the proper questions to ask. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, STGOD 2k6 will not enter "late-game" until we get some Hot XXX Grand-on-Grand Action (space combat pr0n, yum!). Since that is still in the works, this STGOD is in the "mid-game" at most.

Relating to your entry: if the mods give you the go-ahead, then please copy the following image to your computer, open it in MS Paint or similar program, put the location of you nation, save it (preferably as a 24-bit Bitmap), and upload it to imageshack or similar service.

You may note a large gap between the Mekidar Republic and everyone else. Pretend it doesn't exist, or that it is covered by Evil Civilization-Destroying Mines of DOOM.

EDIT - On the other hand, I could use some cannon fodd-... um I mean... allies, yes that is what I meant. I could use allies to assist me in beating-up random nations.

Damn. I can't decide what is more annoying, having a nation pop-in out of nowhere right next door, or having a nation pop-in somewhere where it is harder draft them into my Coalition to Go Kick Some Ass.

EDIT 2 - Thirdfain, WTF? I can understand you wanting to expedite matters, but couldn't you have made at least a paragraph or two of your wonderful lavish descriptions I like so much?

This STGOD is still in the early game. Keep in mind that that we've had 200-page STGODs. This one is an infant, and will remain as such until we get more active players. There's no time like now to join- no major alliances have formed, and the political situation is very very fluid. More to the point, this game NEEDS more players. The most successful STGODs had enough playerrs for 3 or 4 major power blocs plus independent nations; we've got enough for maybe 2 factions, if you stretch the phrase.

Also, Adrian: I am simply trying to recall one of the old Rules of STGODing:

Make your flavour posts long, your diplomacy posts short, and your combat posts mid-length.

Perdido Street Station has been described; let's get down to business.

In much the same way the communist party kept winning elections in the USSR, I seem to have won a seat on the Imperial Senate. So I if anyone has any ideas regarding the STGOD that need mods and admins to impliment, I can bring it before them.

I can do that for you. Just give me several hours to write things down (could be less, but I have taken that long to make a single post).

I tried to get the ball rolling. You countered by addicting me to a new webcomic. Who's the real villain here? :P

And don't worry, your fleet will continue to contribute long after my boys are done raping your crews' corpses for fun. The salvage alone should bankroll the whole operation and its next stage.

Let's see if I get this straight, you are creating a rebellion in the Silver Flame. A rebellion that must surely be aware that the Mekidar said, before leaving, "We will not help those who would not help themselves." Oh yes, this could get very messy, very fast.

I hope you will be on AIM later today, I would like to have my delegation in Bas-Lag gets its business over with as quickly as possible.

Let's stir.

Anyway, usual point increases. Usual declaration methods.

One difference though, if you have unclaimed points from last month, write them up like this:
May 2006

600 - Unused
And then either add them to this month's declaration or continue saving. Maintaining a stockpile makes your military quite flexible, the caveat being that your forces won't be immediately available. Recently declared forces may be assumed to still be in their docks during an attack. (note: this doesn't neccessarilly mean that attackers will know where shipyards are or that the yards are undefended)

I haven't been very active recently, so in order to reflect the actions of the LPG in establishing their section of the Trans-cluster trade route, I've put my monthly points allowance into that instead of into naval build-up. Is this acceptable? I'm thinking five eighty-point stations based in otherwise uninhabited systems claimed by the LPG.

Yes, points reflect overall faction worth, not neccessarilly naval power. Nitram has something like 500 points invested in a stargate network.

I didn't think that the monthly point additions counted, just the initial total and any later territorial gains.

The original plan was to stick to 10% of base rather then current. The reason behind that is that it's much easier to track linear increments.

Of course this, as everything is open to discussion.
