Perinquus wrote:Much as I love John Williams' themes for Star Wars and Indiana Jones, I've gotta go with Basil Poledouris soundtrack to "Conan the Barbarian". I just don't think a movie score has ever fitted the mood of a film and character so well. I'd give William's score for "Superman: the Movie" the nod for runner up.

Anybody else got any favorites?
Conan is my favorite as well. I think it really adds to the movie as a whole. There are lots of movies that have good scores but I think the score to Conan actually makes it a much better movie than it would be with a different score or  a pop music soundtrack (which is what Dino DeLuarentis orignally wanted).

Plus "Anvil of Crom" is a great tune to wake up to.

1.) Star Wars
2.) Highlander (Queen are my 2nd Fave Band ever
3.) The Matrix, the scors were superd and don't get me started on Rob Dougans Clubbed To Death.
4.) Flash Gordon for the same reasons as #2

Drewcifer wrote: One of my all time favorites was the music from the Flash Gordon movie. In short, Queen rocks. Silly movie, but awesome soundtrack. I wore out one of those tapes in the fourth grade, the left channel eventually disappeared from playing it on a crappy tape recorder. Actually, any Queen soundtrack music is fairly good: Highlander and Iron Eagle(?) come to mind.

Remember that One Vision song? Listen closely to the last part, where they sing "One Vision" to end the song. Listen to the delay/reverb, and although they say one vision, the echo is of them saying 'fried chicken'. Hilarious.
It's a Kind of Magic is my favorite Queen album. Besides the various songs that you and others have mentioned. I really like "Gimme the Prize" mainly because there's some quotes from Kurgan in it and a nice git of sword fighting from Highlander that goes from speaker to speaker (better with headphones) and it ends with There Can Be Only One. An all around good albumn.:)

I have a question about Queen's "Flash Gordon" album. The one time I saw it on vinyl it looked like one side was stuff from Flash Gordon and the other side was a bunch of the good songs from "The Game" (Another One Bites the Dust, Crazy Little Thing Called Love...etc.) if that's the case then that is a pretty good record.

I rather liked the bounty hunter's theme from Firefly last night.

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

Yeah but what about Jayne's theme song? From Jaynestown. That was funny as hell.

CONAN CONAN CONAN!

Gustav holst's "Planets" suite is awesome- I'm pretty sure most of the pieces have been used in movies before. I guess the music in this thread doesn't have to be just music that was written for the movie.

Star Wars- check.
Superman- check
LOTR- check
Batman- check

And of course, there's Queen's music for Flash Gordon.

"FLASH! AAA-AAHH!"

I was kidding about that last one.

The Empire Strikes Back!!
Followed closely by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Batman Returns was decent too.

I loved the music to David Lynch's Dune movie. I wish the soundtrack released on CD did it justice.
