What I find interesting about this show is that there is no sound in space. The creaters took a big risk doing that. I like it.
Yeah, that really says something about the show. It's very stylish and has a definite flavor to it- unlike, say, Enterprise, which is just a sterile crew, a sterile plot, and a sterile ship- and, unlike, say, Andromeda, it strings it's episodes together- River/Book's past, the Claw guy leading into the captain being captured, etc.
The End of Suburbia

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

It's called continuity. Something that B&B find no use for, until a year down the line when it serves some purpose for one episode and is promptly forgotten again.

If only the show wasn't created by Fox........

Indeed, they take a positive delight in cancelling good sci-fi shows. It's wonder X-Files lasted as long as it did.

I wish Mutant Enemy could just form its own television station and carry its on stuff. Of course that only limits it to three shows though.

Fox helped kill this from the beginning by putting on at 8:00 Friday night. Who in the hell in Firefly's target demographic is watching TV at 8:00 on a friday night? John Doe will be gone next, if it hasn't already. Dark Angel died in this time slot, too, after being a hit on Wednesday night its first season. Thanks, Fox. Thanks a bundle.

And you can forget UPN picking up Firefly. They've got a space sci-fi show already.

No, they're not. They are incompetent. Their goal is to make money. Therefore, not communist.

I think Firefly is/was arguably one of the best new SF shows to come along in a long time.

-It takes science seriously, without being too serious itself.
-Each episode was mostly a stand-alone story, yet still part of greater storyarcs (Is River an uber-weapon? WTF is up with the Sheppard? and so on)
- Great dialog and one liners (although all the ain'ts get to me sometimes)
(see sig)
-the characters are more than one/two dimensional attributes - for example, Jayne's struggles between loyalty to the captain/crew and making a quick buck. Also, the Doc's struggle between his upper-crust roots, taking care of River, and his growing feelings for the mechanic (who's character name escapes me at the moment).

I could go on, but it seems mostly fans in this thread, y'all know what I mean :)

Kaylee. Her name is Kaylee. Seriously, how can you forget the name of the cutest member of the crew?

I thought it was funny how she ended up being the mechanic on Serenity. :D

She was banging the previous mechanic when Mal showed up to complain that the ship wasn't able to fly yet. Kayle mentioned something that was wrong with the ship that she had seen while she was on her back...from that point she makes the mechanic look stupid and gets a new job. :D
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.
