I remember seeing a family picture of old Han and Luke and their kids. They were either in Jedi-attire or orange jumpsuits and he looked like this confused old bum who'd accidently wandered onto the photo-shoot. Sad.

They were all standing around doing that "Yes i'm this cool" pose you see on book covers, and he's waaay in the back with his mouth half open looking, frankly, rather dumbfounded.

I'm imagining his thoughts being "Fuck. Man. I should've let the pit...worm...thing eat me."

The thing that makes Han Solo cool is his refusal to be tamed, let alone pussywhipped. ROTJ could be chalked up to the lingering effects of being frozen in a giant Hershey bar-looking thing for several months. He was turned into a goofball, which is one of two main reasons why ROTJ is the weakest of all the movies.

In ANH and TESB, Han Solo is a cross between Errol Flynn (pick a Flynn movie) and Gary Cooper (Bengal Lancer), with a little John Wayne (True Grit) and Clark Gable (Gone With The Wind) sprinkled in. In ROTJ he was turned into a clown and in the EU he is Al Bundy with a gun. Fuck that! FUCK ALL OF THAT!

I didn't like the Zahn books for many reasons, but the biggest was Han & Leia having kids. I knew it would be all downhill after that. The old Han Solo dime novels were much better and were true to the character. I hope one day we'll get a massive "Bobby Ewing in the shower/ It was all a bad dream" retcon and all this bullshit will be purged.
