Pokemon Battle Revolution for Wii announced
Not a big Pokemon fan, but the graphics are impressive (that we can see from the low quality video) and I'm sure some people here like Pokemon.
It's got DS-Wii connectivity of some sort with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl for the DS and will be out this year.

Hey, combatants can finally touch eachother. Looks cool.
The one thing I didn't like about the original Stadium (yes, I know, technically it was Stadium 2) was the lack of an "instant replay" mode where the attacks were shown without the menu pauses and with actual physical hits. This looks like it rectifies the omission.

You know, underneath the cuddly animals and sickening sweetness of it all is a pretty good RPG combat system. Have you played any of the games ?wautd wrote:I don't care how good it looks like. It's fucking pokemon. Unless they make a game where you can kill pokemons on the most gruesome manners, I'm not interested

There's also the whole forcing animals to do violence to the point of unconsciousness thing as well. It's like legalised dog fighting.Bounty wrote: You know, underneath the cuddly animals and sickening sweetness of it all is a pretty good RPG combat system. Have you played any of the games ?
What is Project Zohar?

Off course not. Where did you got the impression I was being rational or having a point based on a fundamented opinion other than it's looking far too cuteBounty wrote:You know, underneath the cuddly animals and sickening sweetness of it all is a pretty good RPG combat system. This may ruin my status as 'That Guy That Hates Everything On SDN', but once I got past my derison for Pokemon and played the old 64 games, they were actually kind of neat. Typical Japanese turnbased combat, but very polished and well done.
And I still want Monster Rancher EVO to come out in Australia.

Bounty, apparently, Diamond and Pearl will have worldwide VOIP during battles, so it wouldn't be a stretch for this game to have voice control, especially considering the already detailed DS connectivity to Wii.
Pezzoni, while Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon will be out soon in English, if you mean something more like a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest of Pokémon, you're probably out of luck. There's a few text based forum RPG's which have things to offer, but nothing from the company itself.

Veni Vidi Castravi Illegitimos
Pokemon tend to have a higher intelligence than normal animals, and several times, a Pokemon will often refuse to fight for, or even listen to, a trainer they don't respect. In the anime, Ash had a similar problem with Charizard for two whole sesons.Ford Prefect wrote:There's also the whole forcing animals to do violence to the point of unconsciousness thing as well. I was thinking of somthing along the lines of Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver, except in beautiful 3D on the Wii or Gamecube. I watched my brothers playing through the two already on there, and they really didn't do it for me, whereas the style of play on the gameboy lead to some of the best games ever.Archaic` wrote:Pezzoni, while Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon will be out soon in English, if you mean something more like a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest of Pokémon, you're probably out of luck. I can always dream, I guess
Watching the video:
Ugh, I hate ubers! Watching Groudon and Deoxys getting the shit beat out of them was very therapeutic.
More seriously, I hope they take this opportunity to make up for the blandness of previous 'Stadium' titles...ever noticed how every Pokemon has one or two 'attack' animations, and they just show a different graphical effect every time? Lame.

You know, that's actually a pretty good idea. Tone down the "cuteness" a bit, try to work in an actual story, and keep the fundamentals, or some form of them from the GB games (which, I think, are the best of the console series in terms of replayability and sheer fun value), and you'd have a pretty good game.Pezzoni wrote:Where's the real Pokemon RPG we've been waiting for for years?
Still, this looks like it does have some promise; its predecessors... just weren't fun.

I bet I could buy a pair of fighting roosters in Mexico for less then the cost of this game; I’d basically be getting the same thing only with blood and better sound quality. Heck I don't even strictly need to go to Mexico for that, as cockfighting is still legal in New Mexico and Louisiana, they'd just be cheaper south of the boarder.

Man, this makes me nostalgic. Still, I'll be frank, I hate any Pokemon designed past Silver. They started getting a lot of especially stupid looking designs. Pokemon Silver was the highlight of Pokemon as far as I'm concerned, and God damnit Lugia will always have a special place in my heart!

It's true, and it never stopped, really. I always thought Ash's was a bastard, which was kind of amazing since I really loved Charizards in general. How obnoxious can you make a mostly-mute dragon?Ford Prefect wrote:Of course, it didn't help that Charizard was just a fucking asshole.
No, seriously. He was.
Incredibly.
