Rooting out Evil
In the new year, Rooting Out Evil will be sending a team of volunteer weapons inspectors into that greatest of rogue nations, the United States of America.
We have selected the US as our first priority based on criteria provided by the Bush administration. According to those criteria, the most dangerous states are those run by leaders who:
1) have massive stockpiles of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons;
2) ignore due process at the United Nations;
3) refuse to sign and honour international treaties; and
4) have come to power through illegitimate means.
The current US administration fulfills all these criteria. And so, again following Bush?s guidelines, Rooting Out Evil is demanding that his administration allow immediate and unfettered access to international weapons inspectors to search out their caches of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.
If they refuse to comply, we will assemble as many volunteer weapons inspectors as possible at a major border crossing between the US and Canada and attempt to cross into the US on a mission of peace. We will be greeted on the US side by Americans who favour true global cooperation, an end to weapons of mass destruction, and a regime change in the US at the next election.

That's a load of bull shit:
1) Of course we do, but we haven't used them without grave provocation and never against our own.
2) So?
3) So we don't sign and hamstring ourselves with spineless treaties?
4) Bush came to power through the legitimate mechanisms of governement. True the vote was unequivical but it isn't illegal or unconstitutional.

Isn't the US the only country that's used nukes? And yes, you tested chemical weapons on your own troops, without telling them. And, IIRC, civilians were harmed in some of these tests.Stormbringer wrote:That's a load of bull shit:

So? You ignore the UN when you don't like it, but run to them when you want permission to attack another nation.2) So?
Again, you want to tell everyone else what to do, but you don't want to take any responsibility.3) So we don't sign and hamstring ourselves with spineless treaties?
Maybe you should read up on the matter. Republicans filled out parts of army ballots, which is a felony. And without the missing information, those ballots wouldn't have counted. And without those ballots, Bush wouldn't have won.4) Bush came to power through the legitimate mechanisms of governement. True the vote was unequivical but it isn't illegal or unconstitutional.

The other stupid thing the yankees are doing is giving everybody the small pox vaccine. The vaccine which is LIVE. The vaccine which will make those who take it sick for atleast 2 days. The vaccine which will KILL atleast 2 people.
Hopefully, Bush'll be one of those who get's killed by the US goovernment.

Uh, I think this thread, which is obvious flame bait, needs to be locked immediately before it descends into a massive U.S. vs everyone else fight.
Seriousily, everyone of us comes from a country that is far less than perfect. There is no reason to point this out. Everyone here is throwing stones in a glass house. I for one will not participate in whatever this thread descends into.

The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
One question. Who the hell is "rooting out evil" and what is their mandate, and their legitamacy? What power do they have to inspect any one? Are they UN?
Ok, thats more than one but they are all pretty much in the same category.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

The original point, that most of you have missed, (and correct me if I'm worng, Yogi) is that those are the EXACT reasons that Bush is using to attack Iraq...
And ther's nothing wrong with giving people a vaccine against an activer, threatening disease, but no one should be forced be law to have one...
edited for getting Yogi's name wrong, much apologies

Except several are twisted beyond recognition and distorted.innerbrat wrote:The original point, that most of you have missed, (and correct me if I'm worng, Yoshi) is that those are the EXACT reasons that Bush is using to attack Iraq...
Which the US isn't doing. The vaccinations are voluntary, or did you overlook that little point?innerbrat wrote:And ther's nothing wrong with giving people a vaccine against an activer, threatening disease, but no one should be forced be law to have one...
OK, I wasn't really taking sides. I can't source it, but I read they were compulsory in some situations.Stormbringer wrote:Which the US isn't doing. Anyway, the vaccinations could still release the (currently extinct) virus out again into the populations.

Only in a very. very small number of cases and even then they can resign the job I'm sure.innerbrat wrote:OK, I wasn't really taking sides. That's highly unlikely. You've got a better chance of being hit by lightening by an order of magnitude. To let that remote possibility stop something beneficial is really rather dumb.
I think that they are compulsory in the military, which makes sence. The military gets all sorts of imunizations against possible NBC agents.innerbrat wrote:OK, I wasn't really taking sides. And any criteria can be distorted out of context and used for purely political bullshit. Again I ask, who the hell are these guys and what authority do they think they have?

Vaccinations can not possibly cause a smallpox epidemic. Smallpox vaccines use the related but relatively benign vacinnia virus, not smallpox.innerbrat wrote: OK, I wasn't really taking sides. I can't source it, but I read they were compulsory in some situations.
