Pricing For Retro Games on the Wii: $5-$10
Moderator: Thanas
I've seen the green and the red.
Anyway, for the pricing; IF they were $5 a pop, I'd be going around buying the BEST games of the time I played, and the games people always told me about but I never got to try.
EDIT: You know, if I were Nintendo, I'd sell them for $5 apeice, but every once in a while have half-off days or "buy two get one free" days. The buy two get one free deals at GameStop always force me to buy something I was eyeing but holding off from getting.

Let me just take this opportunity to bitch about the hack job Nintendo did in emulating Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to the GameCube.
Somehow they found the time to fiddle with stupid half-inch crescents, yet were unable to give two of the premier N64 games an actual proper port. I don't need state of the art Twilight Princess graphics, but a rocksteady 30 or 60 fps in light of the GCN capabilities is almost required. Plus, they never changed the joystick sensitivity between the N64 and GCN versions, making slingshot aiming ridiculous.
I always stick with the originals, because when in doubt, it's always better on the pad they were designed for. It's going to be an uphill fight for Nintendo to convince me I need to re-buy the classics.

Ignoring emulation is a stupid idea. Sure, if I wanted an antique NES cart it'd cost a lot. However, I could get every NES game ever in a few minutes. So... since on Wii I'm *not* getting the antique cart, but just emulation... why should I pay US$5 for it? Frankly, I was looking forward to buying a large library of titles, but no way in hell I'm paying that much for it, excluding a few 64 games like PD. It's like this: at US$1, I'd probably buy dozens or hundreds of games. At US$5, I'll probably buy *TWO*.

What pissed me off the most about the OoT port was the fact that they completely butchered the credits. In the N64 versions, there are a couple measures in the ranch portion of the credits where Malon sings. In the Cube version, Malon doesn't appear until after the audio for her part has already played. They rearranged other parts of the credits as well, but that's the one that really jumps out. That actually pissed me off more than the whole Gerudo emblem change.

Aye, that was terrible! I never noticed the change of the Gerudo emblem or the music in Fire Temple, but I did notice the Malon part, because that was something I remembered from the original. In fact, the frame rate in that whole party scene seems to be going up and down in some wavy fashion. It's very strange.Darth Yoshi wrote:What pissed me off the most about the OoT port was the fact that they completely butchered the credits. Also, Majora's Mask has a tendency to freeze sometimes on the GC. And it's in totally random places, too. Weird.

::Is glad he pre-ordered OOT::
The prices seem fair enough (at least as far as 64 titles are concerned) considering that there are also going to be made efforts to update games to take advantage of more powerful hardware and all of that sort of stuff. Depending on just what updates they make, the price could become a relative steal for the title you're getting - better framerates and resolutions would be nice, but wouldn't be enough to convince some folks, whereas - say, online multiplayer and matchmaking systems - would more than seal the deal for a crapload of players.
::Is hoping F-Zero X and Gauntlet Legends get some online lovin'::

On a console with support for four players? You bet they did - best three Nintendo 64 rentals I ever had, and if Midway negotiate for a VC release and patches it up with the aforementioned services, it'll be the first one I snap up when I pick up a Wii.Stark wrote:Gauntlet legends was on 64?
