The joy of flavored coffee

Post by Azazal »

So Just got back from lunch and during the walk back, I stoppped at the local indie book shop and got a cup of coffee to go - "The Orient" Standard latte, but with ginger in it, very yummy and tastey. Needless to say it has become my new afternoon treat. Though I do stop to think that ginger and coffee just doesn't sound like a combo one would run into normally, but I'm glad I did.

Coffee flavored with both ginger and nuts is also very good. And I generally dislike coffee...

My favorite flavor of coffee is "regular". Black.

I always like a shot of vanilla syrup in my latte or mocha now and then.

Regular, as in what kind of regular? How the beans have been roasted makes a lot of difference. I like the Italian roast coffee, which is very strong, but the crap they sell here for the most part is just...bleurgh!

Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend. I'm not sure how they roast it, but it's the best coffee for the price.

Highlander Grog.. butterscotch and rum roasted on the bean, then ground and brewed... if you want to really bring it out, add one teaspoon of raw or light brown sugar. *siiiiiiiiiiigh*

Another good on is vanilla and hazelnut

Sugar and a bit of milk generally does it for me. That said, experimentation may be in order. I'm still on *study leave*, and have vowed to make a cake instead of wasting time on the internet, so prehaps I could also play around with Coffee as well :D

I can imagine that cinnamon and sugar would be a nice one.

Get an honest-to-fuck vanilla bean and throw it in the basket next time you brew coffee at home, tastier than hell.
Yank the bean out before you toss the used grounds, put it in a zip-lock baggie, and throw it in the fridge to use it again.

Brew the coffee with the cinnamon in the grounds. You can also add nutmeg or cloves.

You cannot improve on a plain black coffee. I like a robust Colombian grind( Folgers). Sugar makes it taste gross. I like cream.
This is like mixing a fine single malt scotch into a cola. You do not do that.
Anyway, I do like vanilla flavored creams.

I like my coffee with a hefty dose of irish whiskey or Bailey's. Failing that, plain black joe will suffice, since what I'm looking for is heat and caffiene, not flavor particularly.

Though if I'm going to get a dessert coffee, there are some very good ones out there.

I'm partial to Maxwell House Bold French Roast with a packet of Swiss Miss with Marshmallows mixed in the cup instead of cream and sugar. That's some good shit. :D

Another good variety of plain black coffee is Lacas Original City Roast. They're mostly a restaurant supplier, so if you've ever had a cup of coffee in a diner in New Jersey, you've had it. The diner I always go to serves it and it's damn good coffee. Of course, thanks to the fucking smoking ban, you can no longer sit in a diner in this state and enjoy a cup of coffee and a cigarette, but you can order Lacas in 1lb bags and drink it at home, where you can smoke all you want. By yourself. Without cute waitresses with which to flirt.

Fuck you, Dick Codey. Fuck you.

Try this if your means allow for it, and if you won't be driving for a while....

In a 16 ounce, heat-proof beverage container of your choice, add:

2 shots Kahlua
2 shots Bailey's
1 shot Jameson's
Fill cup with fresh, hot coffee, stir.
