[Discussion] What to do with Kathryn?

Here, the user known as "Kathryn" is advocating solipsism, bifurcating between absolutes and nothing, and in general demonstrating ignorance of science and the scientific method.

I know her from a previous board, and I, along with some other members here, have seen her progress from a full-fledged fundamentalist to where she is today (and believe me, it's a progression). I am currently of the opinion that reading the discussions and debates here, and eventually participating, will help her learn to think and reason critically. I do not think that I will be able to vote impartially, and thus, will recuse myself from any potential vote regarding her; but, I will participate in discussion.

However I believe these forums may help her, I have it on good word that she was warned multiple times to read the rules before joining -- indeed, I warned her myself to read the rules -- and she has shown a history of spammy me-too posts, disregard for the signature rules, and, finally, disregard or lack of understanding of the debating rules. Thus, I do believe some disciplinary measures are in order.

Therefore, my fellow members of the Senate: what should we do with her?

She's a waste of base acids, pointless spammer, I figured here where we support the death penalty for pointless spammers the answer would be clear. Then again purhaps my live and let live nice guy nature is finally rubbing off onto the rest of the board....

Apart from her enormous wall of ignorance, her broken-record debating tactics, her "it's an opinion, but I'm right anyway, so neener-neener-neener" attitude, and her smarmy, blatantly insincere apologies, I'd say that the biggest strike against her is the fact she was apparently warned of the environment of this board before signing up and was implored to read the rules. Her behavior clearly demonstrates either an appalling lack of reading comprehension, or the sort of willful ignorance of the rules consistent with a troll. It doesn't help her that her posting history up to the point she was HOSed consisted of no-content spammy me-toos.

Basically she strikes me as displaying most of the qualities displayed by virtually alll the low-volume trolls whom the Senate has voted into Parting Shots. I know you say that she's improved drastically on other boards . . . unfortunately, as I've not seen her history, and as those other boards aren't SD.net, I'm not certain how applicable any past improvement on her part is to her current show-trial here. And her behavior on SD.net to date isn't the sort of behavior one might see from someone who, in fact, has any hope for a promising future here.

So, in the very least, VI her. Otherwise, it's time to demonstrate to her the objective nature of reality via a banstick beating.

Eh, send her to the gallows and be done with it. She seems like a waste of bandwidth. The more I read that thread, the more I think the numbing sensation in my skull is the result of a Stupid tumor forming.

Still minimal is this dipshit runs around with Chewtoy at best. But honestly I'm just saying ban, given her explaination was the same level as this blonde that once asked me to prove gravity and I poured my water on her head.

Some sort of title seems appro pos. She does show progression, albeit slowly. My benefit-of-the-doubt genes are kicking in and I'm always willing to give a little more slack... while recognizing that it can also turn into "enough to hang oneself with" at the end...

Given her very public act of storming off the board in a huff, I think she's already pretty much hung herself.

But, beyond that, she was banal and stupid to the point of borderline-troll, so she certainly deserves an offensive title, such as Village Idiot. If she wishes to come back and show improvement then fine, but from what I've seen of her so far, I'm not holding my breath.

Well, anyway, I'll second Red's notion that if Surlethe is willing to stand up for her, then we can give her the benefit of the doubt for now while keeping a wary eye on her. Maybe a title to teach her a small lesson.

Given the fact that Kathryn has apparently fled the board, is there really any point to continued...prosecution? It can be brought up again if she starts posting again without improvement.

I'd like to point out that she drove me to exasperation this time around, so I certainly won't defend her again if she pulls a similar stunt. I really do appreciate people taking my vouching seriously, though.

I suppose a bit more leeway is given when it's the matter of a respected member's pet rehabilitation project as opposed to some common troll wandering in, making an ass of himself and getting roasted to a crisp.

I'm also inclined to just let this lie and see if she comes back. Time enough to reassess the situation then.
