DS button config

Does anyone know if there is a way to switch the buttons around on a DS Lite for older games?

I know that with New Super Mario Bros. you can run with Y and jump with B. It would be nice to have the same controls with older mario games.

I don't think there is a way. I'm almost positive it's impossible with the original DS and it wasn't listed as one of the new features of the DS Lite.

I just wish they'd rotated the silly SNES control scheme 90 degrees clockwise in the first place. B should be pressed with the tip of the thumb and A with the knuckle. It's just how it is! And Y should be above the middle and X to the side, just like in algebraic coordinates!

Yea, I really don't understand why they did it this way.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

I have a DS Lite. Don't notice such a feature.
