What if Koei gave "Temunjin" the DW treatment
well most of us know that Dynasty Warriors is a spin off from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I was just thinking another, unsed spinoff of RotTK is "Temunjin" where your campaign is as young Gengis Khan, stomping the other mongolian tribes, and uniting the warriors of the Steppe to conquere China. Could an "Evil" Dynasty Warriors style game be produced from this premise, and if produced who here would enjoy playing it?
sure couldn't you picture it, Temunjin and Bortai as the starting characters.....

Nonsense! An RotK spinoff without Cao Cao is like.. um.. chocolate without creamy caramel goodness and those little peanuts.. mmm.. peanuts.
Seriously though, it might be fun. Would suffer from a lack of characters though, wouldn't it? Perhaps as a special mode added to the next DW game..

The goddamn Emperor of Wei approves. Especially if there's a secret level where you get to sack Rome for the hell of it. I believe the Mongols actually made it into central Europe, so it's not too far from history. Ooh! But there should be more peasant militia to kill. I love killing them - they have about one hit point. It's so much fun cleaving through them.
In related news, I only have seven more musou modes to play through in DW, before I get to start collecting even more 4th Weapons. Yay!

I'd rather have the Roman Empire version. Julius Caesar > all save Cao Cao and his herd of lesser Caos.

No, you get the roman formations and plough into the lines of Celts.
How else can 10,000 romans beat 200,000 Celts?
Other than by using 'tactics'.
Anyhow, playing as Caesar is inherently fun. Scipio would also be amusing.
"So, you say you've got to the gates of Rome, Hannibal? My my, that is impressive. I suppose I'd better surrender.
Oh, wait, there was one little thing.
Here's your wife's head and all we left unburned of your city. Now piss off and if I ever see you again I'll have you executed. ta-ta"

Koei's way of tossing out timelines for game play (Musashi Miyamoto is in SW2), throwing in Charlemange and Roland would be simple. Toss in various out eastern european/middle eastern heroes and you have a game.

Am I the only one who wants a PS3 DW game? 'Nameless Chinese dudes, sir... FAHSINDS of em'!
Of course, Koei would have to actually develop new features, rather than bolting on half-boiled lame ideas to the same game they've been selling for years. Like... two players on opposite teams? Proper netplay? Actual command/strategy, instead of 'oh the king is getting pwned we'll just sit here and groove'? Locking stat maximums so the characters retain... character... at the high end instead of basically ending up identical? Etc. I love Dynasty Warriors.

yeah, well if they did a temunjin version we would have to at least include the basic stratagy set up for your nameless minions so that you could set tehm up to do manuver and ambush fests that mongols are so well known for.

That sort ofreminds me.. in Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX, an alternate history ending which happened if you achieved certain objectives in the game would show a united China spreading out and invading the nation of Da Qin (I think that was it) which turned out to be the Roman Empire.Lusankya wrote:The goddamn Emperor of Wei approves. I'd love for that scenario to be in a DW game. Just think. Ancient China vs. Ancient Rome DW extravaganza! Killing nameless Chinese and Romans!
