And starts sailing about, assaulting any structures it comes accross.

What happens?
It shall be.

We don't know what sort of defense the Kaminoans have. However it's a good bet that the USN will be on the bottom of the ocean soon enough.

Clonetroopers get live fire training against living targets. Navy goes down hard.

Obi-Wan arrived during the calm season. I would suspect that the USN would suffer heavy losses from the violent seas even without clonetrooper involvement. And it goes without saying that an Acclamator hovering over a USN fleet would quickly spell the end.

Other than the USN dumping its entire complement of nuclear weapons on everything in sight (which would still probably do little), USN sinks.

The USN goes down hard and fast. They may do little damage if they can get those aircraft in the sky during he calm season.

The heavy seas will make attack by USN forces all but impossible. The time it takes for them to be destroyed depends on whether or not the Clonetrooper heavy equipment is actually on or near Kamino. If it is, the USN goes to the bottom in as long as it takes for an Acclamator to take off (assuming it can hover upside down :D). If not, it will take a bit longer.

Two flights of gunships would be able to wipe out the whole surface fleet. They appeared to have Acclamator on hand, so no doubt gunships would be there as well. The high seas will make operations for most ships impossible.

The Sub fleet might create trouble, but turbolasers forced a sub to the surface in the Thawn Trilogy. And the torpedoes are unlikely to have much effect against Star Wars construction.

USN Mk-48s try to detonate underneath the target; one wonders if they'd get confused by structures that apparently rest on piles going all the way to the sea floor.

Unlikely unless there too wide for the seeker to see the edges. In nay case command wire guidance could be used. The Mk48 does have an impact fuse.

What happens?
And why would the USN just start assaulting structures on an alien world?

Does it matter in the context of this senario? No...

Based on your earlier posted comments and Darth Wong's, it would look like the USN would have much time to assault anything. The USN would be too busy shitting in their collective pants because they're dealing with storms that are equal to a Category 3 Hurricane or higher.

They wouldn't attack anything as soon as they meet the natives - haven't the US government made a pact with grey aliens???

if they arrived during the calm season like obi wan did then they would see an acclamator hover over them and barley have time to shit themselves before a hail of turbolaser fire turned all the surface ships to vapor and forced up the submarines i mean a modern day navy vs. the clone army and it's acclamators i give the USN five days at best (if they were widley dispersed it would take time to hunt them all down)

"Structures" meaning those large stilt-mounted complexes?

Iowa-class broadsides of 16" guns would devastate them.

Bombs (including bunker busters) dropped from USN planes would devastate them.

Cruise missiles fired from US ships and submarines will also wreak havoc on them.

And the SSBNs of course carry nukes, though those would probably not be used during the alpha strike.

The Acclamators are on Rothana IIRC, so they will not be of help.

When Obi wan is walking through the cloning area we get a close up a Clones marching up the boarding ramp of one.

Yes, those.

Those aren't enough. Star Wars has construction materials orders of mangnitude stronger. Those will at best do superficial damage assuming any could even be deployed in the Hurricane force storms that are always there.
Manji wrote:And the SSBNs of course carry nukes, though those would probably not be used during the alpha strike.
Those might well work. But that's about it.
Manji wrote:The Acclamators are on Rothana IIRC, so they will not be of help.
True, but even a simple one man snubfighter would devestate fleets. If they have so much as one fighter they'll be able to smash the USN to peices, case closed, end of story.

I see Manji has chosen to show us yet more pics of Iowa guns firing.#

Shall I crack out the BDZ picture? IIRC there is one somewhere...

Nice pictures, one LAAT missile has more firepower then every shell in an Iowa magazines.
