I've found the way to shut Stark up, mention FS2. It works like a charm.

Unlike the MediaVPs.

Well I've finally managed to get the SCP working, and so far its a great game, as suggested. One thing though, apparently the game uses a system where you can fail objectives and still complete the mission. In the mission debrief, when the guy says 'there was nothing you could have done to...' does that mean that whatever happened wasn't one of these type of objectives?

When you get a 'There was nothing you could have done', means the mission understands you couldn't have suceeded that objective and lets you move on.

There's a few of those types of missions.

My own idle thoughts:

Everyone, download the build from here, it fixs quite a few long standing bugs and is well worth the DL.

Instructions: Download the version appropiate for your OS, unzip and put it in your FS2 dictionary alongside the rest of the exes. In the launcher, select the EXE you wish to run, make sure you run fs2_open_r rather then _d, as the debug build is slower.

For the interested, I'm saying this primarily because this fixs the Y targeting bug, where some people get a hard crash when they target a debris ingame.

At the current rate, Taylor already fixed some bugs reported and that kind of stuff.

Ooh, something I forgot, for those still going through the main game, in the mission A Game of Tag, there exists a bug that can make enemies fail to appear, making you fail the mission. If you are affected by this bug, download this file. Extract the file and put it in the FreeSpace2\data\Missions folder. This should fix the bug.

Anything else I forgot?

I just completed the game this morning, but according to wiki there are two different ending videos. The first time I didn't make it to the node and got toasted, however the second time I did, but both times I had the same vid...

Overall, I'd say its certainly a great game, but nothing particularly mind blowing, just fun rather than brilliant really. I wish that there was a SW simulator of equal quality.

Those are differant videos, slightly differant in Petrachs speach. One mentions the squadron leader of the Blue Lions(you) dying there.

Pet...who? I know nothing of this speech of which you speak. All I got was a video of the Sathanas' supernova-ing the star, and the engaged ships getting blown to shit. End clip, return to main menu. I'm guessing I'm missing something?

I was thrown off by this too. The supernova comes at exactly 12 minutes, so just make sure you're at the Vega jump node by 11 minutes, and you should be fine.

You must have skipped the second clip - because there's another clip after the supernova blows, which is what Ace is refering to.

No skippage, I didn't press anything. It's not completing the mission thats the problem, I just get sent back to the menu screen after what I presume is the first clip.

IIRC the voice over is during the supernove, but I could be wrong, I'll try replaying the mission.

Can anyone give me some help here? I posted this at HardLight forums already, but crossposting here in case anyone can help:

Alright, first things first.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
GPU: Ati Radeon 200, 128MB (It's integrated)
RAM: 1.3 Gigs

That's it, right?

Anyway, here's the problem I've been having:

Ace Pace told me that Freespace 2 SCP was an incredible experience, so I DLed it. Of course, I figured it wouldn't be fair to start a sequel before the original, so I was floored with the FS Port project.

Here's the steps of what I've done so far:

1. Downloaded and installed Shivansps 1.5c Pack.

2. Downloaded and installed SCP 3.6.9 RC3.

3. Downloaded the mission file in the sticky of this forum, just to see if there were changes from Shivansps's installer.

4. Set the new, fs2_open_r.exe to open in the launcher.

5. Tried to run FSPort.

I set the mod correctly and everything at the start, and started the missions. Unfortunately, I soon discovered through googling that these training missions were for FS2, not FS1. I wanted the full experience, so I downloaded the training missions file from the FSPort website, and dragged it into the FSPort subfolder.

I started FPort again. Still the FS2 training missions. Fine, I figured, FS2's training missions are probably fine anyway. I started doing them but noticed that there were problems. In the first one, the instructor stopped doing anything after I got the command to use the backslash key for full throttle. I skipped the mission and moved on. In the second and third training missions, I was ordered to shoot down drones: However, my ship wasn't armed with any weapons! Chalking it up to minor bugs, I hit the skip mission button and moved onto the real game.

Then FS crashed to desktop, giving me this error message:
Quote
Error: Invalid weapon name.

In sexpression: ( when
( true )
( good-secondary-time
"Friendly"
100
"Cyclops"
"Belisarius"
)
)
(Error appears to be: Cyclops)

I went to FSOpen and the game put me at that game's first mission. I didn't play much into it, but everything looked like it was working fine. Everytime I do the same in FSPort, though, it crashes with the same error message.

Any help?

Thanks!

Can you give me a file list of your FSport folder, your command line options and your mediaVp folder?
