And a fine job you're doing of it, too. Might've gotten the turn rolled back AGAIN, if I wasn't here. :P

Just checking. I made the mistake of using that option before when it didn't belong.

I will be in Queensland for the weekend, returning Monday. I won't be able to take any turns during this time.

Due to personal problems (or is it an asshole living with me? Does that count as personal?) I won't be able to run any SE:IV turns in the forseeable future. Or do anything that can't be done at my school computers.

It's possible I'll have one in a few days but not likely. If not, it'll be some time. As in a long time. So the obvious thing to do is ask any of my close allies who want to take over my empire. For B5 that would probably be either Guppyshark or Trogdor. For Star Trek probably either Covenant or Tuxedo. For Adamant, probably Tuxedo. I'll give you my PBW password and you could upload and play my turns for me if you want.

If not. Anybody. It's better than giving it to an AI.

Or if anybody in SD.net wants to take over. You can.

Well that sucks. We're losing our usual villian, and what's a space opera without a bad guy? :(

I'm a little leery about having one player control two nations in the B5 game, especially if one of them is as powerful as the Corporate Sector. All the political manuvering and shit we do would be thrown off by having two empires that will stick together no matter what, I think. I suppose we could set rules to prevent unfair cooperation between whoever has two empires, though.

IMHO, it isn't as much of a problem with one person controlling two empires in the other games, though, because they're more straightforward, less about RP, and you haven't set yourself up as the big antagonist as you have in B5.

I guess we'd need to see if Gups is willing to take over the Corporates before proceeding. I'd take them to prevent having to let an AI control them, but I don't particularly want to, since Londo doesn't have a high opinion of Marxis and I'm not sure I could RP that xenophobically. Personally, I'd greatly prefer it if someone else from Sd.net took the Corporates.

I sent a pm off to Guppy. Hopefully he agrees.

Although I would prefer giving it to somebody else on SD.net.

I may start a new thread and ask for replacement players in a couple days. Or this afternoon depending on how I'm feeling. My laptop's not likely to be fixed, but there's the off chance that it will.

The AI wouldn't respect the RP and depending on how good the AI is. It might go to war right away and just start killing people off. Although that is less of a problem and if things get bad everybody could just break off their treaties with raiders and starve them. I'm getting minus ten thousand minerals a turn and just exhausted my mineral supply... if one more major power breaks their treaty with me, resource conversions won't cut it :P.

<edit>
Sent pm's off to Tuxedo for Adamant, Guppy for B5 and Covenant for Star Trek. If they can't do it, I'll make a new thread and ask for replacement players, since anybody else would probably shatter the balance of power (sorry Nephtys :) )
</edit>

<edit>
The other alternative is there are players in the Star Trek game not in the B5 or Adamant game and so on... I think Nova, Booyah, Kojiro, etc., so maybe one of them would like to take over Adamant or Star Trek or whatever :).
</edit>

<edit>
Covenant has agreed to take over for Star Trek for me for the next few turns at least for everybody's information.
</edit>

SE:IV Star Trek RP up, have no idea how much interest there is but I thought of a great backstory.

Covenant is now in control of my empire in Star Trek. B5, Guppy hasn't checked his pm yet, and Tuxedo hasn't said whether he'll take over either way in Adamant. Telling so everybody knows who's playing what :P.

Have fun guys.

Please, can anyone get Booyah to take his adamant? It's been a week now, and I'm going to push the 'go' in about 12 hours.

Booyah isn't SD.net regular and isn't getting his PBW e-mails for some reason. A spam filter or something.

I think the solution would be to make a hotmail or yahoo account and have it funnel the e-mails to his regular e-mail. And put the yahoo/hotmail account to avoid the spam filter.

Last time he ran his turn as soon as I pmed him.

Allright, I'll take the Corporate Sector as a steward until you can get a machine together. I'd send you one but I think shipping would be prohibitive to Canada. :)

I have solutions, but they're all incredibly inconvenient or evil like going to an Internet cafe, commandeering my brother's computer (why not he broke mine) or going to a friend's house, but I really need my own to play my turns every day.

Anyway thanks for the help. Box came in two days ago for my laptop, shipping it out as soon as I get a little spare time... and if they fix it horray, if they don't fuck and I'll think about building a brand new computer with my next paycheque. With lots of ram, scalable architecture and a huge hard drive heh heh.

Oh, this has to be the worst mod I've ever played.

How the fuck does Ship A defeat Ship B taking ZERO damage?!

The same way one King Falcon slagged thirty Borg cubes :(.

Anyway I feel for you. It has to do with the way his ship's designed, particularly the weapon firing order. His design's immune to your current design unfortunately looking at the two of them there.

Okay. I really shouldn't say shit, but Nephtys, Covenant, Trogdor, Tuxedo and I know. I guess you didn't get much fighting in the last game anyway after the beginning.

Shields soak five damage. His ships have ten shields so they soak 50 of your damage. He gets around your soak by alternating shield depleters and pulse so the depleters bring your shields down to 0 and the damage's applied directly to the hull. You take a little damage he takes none (Pulse seven is 40 damage?) so he wins...

Now I know Dalton's furiously scribbling notes down and watching this and he'll come out with his uber fleet for vengeance... yes :P. U235 too I bet.

The shield soak ability's an armor ability. So there's four ways to deal with it. Either do enough damage to get over it with torpedoes preferably the quantum variety, use alternating shield depleters and pulse, use armor skipping weapons, or use shield burning weapons.

Secrets Revealed: The real power of shields is that every damaging hit that penetrates causes a regeneration of 5*(number of generators beyond class V)

So if I take 60 damage, with only 50 shield points left, 10 damage hits my hull... then if I have 10 generators, I suddenly get another 50 shield points.

It really reduces the effectiveness of most shots.

Curse you for revealing my most secret of ship designs, you point-eared space demon!

And my armor negates any damage of 10 or less. Until you use class X phasers (basically), my ships will be immune to any number of weaker phasers. And even a hull hit will trigger the shield regeneration anyway.

By cycling my shield sappers into there more of the damage reached your hull, and I did damage. The reason I doubled up my phasers is because I wanted to be able to more quickly destroy a vessel who is starting to take damage--just some efficency.

You can't imagine my annoyance when I discovered that Brian already knew my trick! I had figured on being the only one to circumvent the Invincishield so early in the game. Alas, it was not to be.

Basically, the only reason my ship beat yours is because of the way my guns were set up and my Kelindide armor. It's pricey stuff! Worth it though. Also, my Galors are one of my oldest ship designs. As you can also see, from the skirmish you had with my Order-class vessel at the beginning, my ships are very heavy on defense. Your ship had no way to breach my thick shields, so I won by slipping through little bits of damage and whittling your armor down. It wasn't exactly a pretty fight.

I kind of found it by accident. I was researching shield depleters for shield burners and fooled around with depleters, then thought to myself what would happen if something was at exactly 0 shields. So I thought of depleters.

Well okay.

In other news, I got my laptop back finally and it's fucking brand spanking new! They gave me a whole new computer hahaha what a joke. Entire case and "system board" replaced... hard drive and wireless card are probably same (hard drive better be).
