Force Sub: Orcs for Iraqi forces in Persian Gulf War
Due to a wormhole, all the Iraqi soldiers are replaced by an equal number of orcs from Lord of the Rings[b/]. All equipment the Iraqis have also disappears. So, the Orcs are limited to what ever is normal technology for Middle Earth. Orcs have no access to any kind of magic.
What happens next? or how bad is the blood bath.

The entire Orc force is captured or destroyed with virtually no effort on the part of the Coalition. The Orcs have nothing capable of even annoying tanks or air power, and their troops can be cut down by the thousands by any weapons available to infantry. The only fatalities suffered by the coalition will be from friendly fire.

Triple the body count, they can't run, are unlikely to last long enough to surrender and can't even dig in to hid. Good thing the M1 has about 10,000 rounds of machine gun ammunition, there going to need it.

This is a stupid scenario. Taking a good old-fashioned one-sided whuppin' like Gulf War 1 and replace the loser with an even weaker combatant.

That and Orcs are pissweak in sunlight, the desert has a lot of that, though if you look at a map of ME, Mordor is not far from Iraq...

Actually the fact that you merely doubt is a worrying sign. How in hell are arrows from a bow going to even dent the armor. The arrows, when fired doesnt send an arrow through a human body.Exonerate wrote:I doubt if their arrows are going to penetrate the armor plating of an tank...
I would be suprised as hell, if the arrows didnt bounce of thr tank armor, with no noticable effect.

the sands would become the color of orc blood i mean come on orcs whith swords and arrows VS. coalition tanks and infantry plus the orcs would probably stand out against the desert (at least the movie version would i haven't read the books in a loooooooooooong time) orcs would get slaughtered scattered and utterly crushed... and then the main coalition force would move in

They woundn't go through the side armor of an LAV at point blank. But it would never be an issue, the Orcs formations would be wiped out before they got into range.Exonerate wrote:I doubt if their arrows are going to penetrate the armor plating of an tank...

Now, what if the Iraqi soldiers are replaced with orcs x100?

Killing 100 million orcs would be annoying for a half million modern troops, but not that diffacult. Ammunition was stocked for a 21 day high intensity ground war, I'd say 10-14 days wroth gets shot off.HemlockGrey wrote:Now, what if the Iraqi soldiers are replaced with orcs x100?

Just a few questions...Sea Skimmer wrote:Killing 100 million orcs would be annoying for a half million modern troops, but not that diffacult. Do the orcs have any backup units (trolls, cave trolls etc etc).
And what happens if ALL the orcs and their horde critters go an all-out charge on an allied position? 100 million orcs vs a battalion of men...
And what would be required to put down each kind of critter?
Like could small arms fire take down a troll? Or would you need a LAW or similar?

Wouldn't happen. Any concentration of Orc troops would be dispersed from the air and by heavy artillery.weemadando wrote:And what happens if ALL the orcs and their horde critters go an all-out charge on an allied position? 100 million orcs vs a battalion of men...

I doubt rifle fire would drop a troll in time, but squad and platoon level machine guns easily would.weemadando wrote:Just a few questions...Sea Skimmer wrote:Killing 100 million orcs would be annoying for a half million modern troops, but not that diffacult. Though it's unlikely to ever be an issue. The Coalition force is overwhelmingly heavy troops, and even the 82 and 101 have swarms of Hummers with crew served weapons along with artillery. The chances of Trolls getting past the hail of machine gun and auto cannon fire, and the automatic grenade launchers, mortars, howitzers, tank shells, MLRS rockets,B-52s with cluster bombs, tac air and everything else to reach a range where 5.56 weapons can effectively engage are rather low.

Water requirments would be what would really prevent it. A 100 million Orcs would have to spread out along the rivers and lakes of the whole of Iraq to find enough to avoid dieing of dehydration. The water supplies of Kuwait and southern Iraq would be lucky to support 2 million of them. As it is I doubt the whole country could support them for more then a few months, food aside.Pablo Sanchez wrote:Wouldn't happen. Given Mordor is a blasted wasteland I'd say they have a low water requirement. Remember there is damn little water in Mordor and the Orcs thrived.Sea Skimmer wrote:Water requirments would be what would really prevent it. Mordor would seem to be much much cooler then the Desert.Stormbringer wrote:Given Mordor is a blasted wasteland I'd say they have a low water requirement. No, only the northern part is a wasteland, and it could easily have extensive supplies of water underground. The Southern section has a big lake and extensive fields. Huge swarms of wagons constantly supply the northern forces.
Given what happened to trucks protected by thousands of guns and missiles in the real war...

I predict that the casualties of the Coalition will be from accidents, friendly-fire, and one or two troll smushings.
But the Orcs get owned, hard.
