This isn't Funny Anymore
I just read KT's blog, and then reread some of the stuff you guys posted regarding DV and his, yes, I'll say it, stupidity. WOW. I really want to cry. What have we become? An eltist bunch of snobs that "took over and trashed a memorial blog"! Is that what people think of us? I really think this is horrible. What have we done? Is this really what we want? Are the mods even willing to "drop it", now that ya'll are backing down? Or are DM and KT and all going to hold this against all of us. KT lumps all of the PLB together, and there were many of us who were completely absent from that whole fiasco. I wasn't as much a part of it, tho I did make my appearances.

Enough is enough IMO. Darkmuppet and his mistress have made a mockary out of this whole thing. There comes a time when even casual fans like myself are taking notice and asking WTF is going on here.

Reading through all this, I have to chuckle when I see the bloggers say "Why Is Karen Traviss saying we're attacking her?" "Why is she comparing us to talifans?"

Then I have to spit, because I see all the whiny "WE'RE SORRY!" posts, and how, in self-flagellation, they've renamed their blog site from "Pitiful Little Band", to "Pitiful Little Blog."

These are the "other" Star Wars fans, which we are not. These are the same people that beg and plead with Dark Moose to be unbanned on the "Forum Feedback" page, because they don't want to be kicked out of the Star Wars Treehouse.

Even being a casual fan such as myself, I have to wholeheartedly agree that this is very fucking absurd. To be honest, after reading through the retcon thread and following this bullshit since it started, I am quite ashamed that I was once a very regular poster on the OS forums about 3 years ago. Then one day someone posted a link to this site and boy was that an eye opener. I haven't gone back since.

It's ironic that this recent bit of silliness has killed a lot of interest in the EU, even here and amongst long-time fans. Whoever said months ago that the EU would go the way of the ST:EU can consider himself vindicated.

I seem to be getting a better handle on what went on- Travissty's little-whiny blog was true to form, complaining how she didn't know how she was drawn into the controversy. I think I know why. It is apparently not exactly a secret that Dark Moose is her pet sycophant gimp, and anything involving him is likely to draw her in as well purely for comedy value. I can only assume his fanatical devotion to her is not spoken of in "polite" circles (SW.com) but is known and sniggered about nonetheless.
and they don't make violent hate-fantasy videos,
Yes, "Talifan!" the violent hate-fantasy video.

Very quickly;

Dark Moose posts a memorial about a soldier who was a Star Wars fan.

Someone from a fansite called "Pitiful Little Band" makes some sort of opinion (I'm assuming) about the war. Dark Moose has of course, deleted everything relevant, so he can scream bloody murder in his own spin zone.

"Pitiful Little Band" member is banned. A couple others post what THEY THINK is a humorous song parody about Moose, and mentioned KT Jelly in it.
Take my bathroom, take my beer
We've still got our spaceship here
We don't need no hyperspace fee
You can't take the blog from me

Take Darth Vader
Make him blue
Give us all a ban or two
We'll take on Moose and KT
You can't take the blog from me

Have no place I'd rather be
Since I found the PLB
You can't take the blog from me...

KT Jelly posts her blog about PLB "attacking" her with attack songs....

Sound familiar?

Absofuckinglutely sounds familiar. That was my first reaction, actually- yet another case of Dark Moose spinning the shit out of something and abusing his power to cover his tracks- take for example his locking his blog where he posted the flurry of lies and slander about "Talifan".

You know, there's something about this "borderline trolling" which Moose keeps bringing up that makes me a bit uneasy.

Moose writes: Because, whether he knows it or not, he was borderline trolling. He posed a very provocative opinion repeatedly, knowing full well it was angering nearly everyone in there.

From the look of the comments on that blog, only Moose himself was offended and angered by Vicomte's comments. It appeared that the rest of the commenters disagreed with Vicomte, but respected his opinion and debated it.

Furthermore, I don't understand why one would take issue with Vicomte "repeatedly" posting a provocative opinion. Vicomte made a statement, Moose disagreed. Can we really expect Vicomte to back down in this situation and say "nevermind, Moose. I've just realized that my opinion is wrong and I'm going home to re-think my life"? Of course not. What's wrong with expanding upon his initial post in order to justify his position and respond to Moose's contrary statements.

I realize that one must tread carefully around the subject of Moose's blog and the comments it inspired. However, there is something about this situation that seems wrong. Vicomte never made any personal attacks against Moose; he stated a very controversial opinion. And like Luuke said, Vicomte's ideas may be controversial, but he is always honest and he believes what he says. In doing so, he challenges the conventional opinion, and forces us to think, to re-consider, and to find justification for our ideas. If this is "borderline trolling," why aren't we outlawing debates on SW.com altogether?

Again, I understand that the subject being debated was a touchy one. Yet it appears that the definition of "borderline trolling" is a very subjective one, and in this case, it was the justification for a punishment that did not fit the so-called "crime."

Well, I'm a little late to the banning party...If that is what we can call it. More like a "power" party for Moose. Sorry Vicomte, I would have posted on the Forum for you...Alas, I had my head buried in work.

Vicomte, you could have gone into more detail about your comments, especially since it concerns a very sensitive subject. That being said, we live in a free country with freedom of speech. Obviously Moose does not get that. As a matter of fact, I sometimes feel that SW.com is his site, doing whatever the hell he wants to.

I've been wanting to write a blog about the Mod's on SW.com for a while now, but I'm having trouble formulating how to approach it. After all, I don't want to get perm banned for a site that *I* PAY for.

I'm glad this is over...And I know, Vicomte, that I can find you in here if *he* ever decides to perm ban you from SW.com.

Don't get me started on Bonniegirl...Nice, but...There is favoritism in blogville.

Yup, only 6-8 people have a problem with Moose and Traviss...

A good thing about this incident is that it may cause some to question what DM and KT say about someone in the future without checking on it themselves- it's good to know that the definition of trolling has not completely lost meaning to some, unlike on sw.com where it's whatever DM says it is.

You know, most people wouldn't equate me with being cautious about how far I go for the jugular when attacked. But there's at least one of you here that knows where I'll draw the line.

Some info came to me with proof about someone's mental/emotional state, which I've voted to file away in case things get even uglier. Lately, this info seems very very correct. Very on the money.

(Don't PM me; I'm not talking.)

It's pretty interesting- basically one of their members said something controversial (i.e. he didn't agree with the lionizing of soldiers deaths) and had a disagreement with Moose about it. Moose, in his inimitable fashion, found an excuse to ban him. Since this guy was a member of the "PLB", they came to his defence at the abuse of power inherent.

One of them wrote a poem using the theme-song from Firefly as a model. They used "KT" to complete a rhyme. That was, unless I'm mistaken, enough for her to lose it and write a blog entry about how horrible the PLB was and how they were Talifans and blah blah blahdy blah.

And they promptly folded. They changed the name of their site and are practically on their knees begging for forgiveness judging by the sheer numbers of apologies they're issuing.

But I preminisce no return of the salad days.

Would that be as in ... tossing? :)

It is quite a sickening display, though not all of them seem to agree- the post by one "Granny-Wan" is a display of spine.

You know what is just too fucking cool to me...they used the Firefly theme. That alone had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Ah, i miss Firefly so.

Anywho...on topic...

This whole fiasco is this close *holds finger and thumb a nanometer apart* from killing the EU.

It already has, i reckon, killed it for many, many Star Wars fans. I dont think i need to tell you how i feel. While i was never a fan of the EU, i felt it was 'good enough' to be part of my favorite scifi franchise. I never imagined renegade employees like KT and her minions would hijack it and go to town on the fandom like this.

Now, unless its Clone Wars the Cartoon (which is ironically one of the most accurate of the huge scale Clone Wars era franchises) or something that has more Lucas-control in it, i'm not interested. Luckily the new tV show is penned by Lucas himself. If only he took such interest in the rest of the Eu or the fans maybe incidents like KT Jelly and her spawn hijacking the official forums wouldnt happen.

LFL wont even notice this now, but when (not if but when) this expands to the point it starts costing them money then they will most certainly step in and make the enevitable call to sack Travissty and most likely Moose as well.

I'm calling it now, so that when it happens i can be on record as the first to cheer Travissty and her flock of peons crashing and burning.

I can't agree. This is a drop in the bucket for them. No one will get sacked, ever. It's just not an issue they'd concern themselves with. They'll keep acting like asses and people (not anyone I know) will keep paying for it.
