Why would my Ipod do this?
Ok, yesterday my Ipod, or maybe the Itunes software, suddenly because very slow when copying songs to my Ipod.
I erased Itunes, reinstalled a fresh copy and it worked... for a few hours. Now it's back to slow.
Anyone have any ideas?

Got it. Go into preferences, and uncheck "Convert to AAC" format or some crap... Just make sure it's unchecked. That fixed it.Mlenk wrote:I'm not sure but I've been having the same problem as of late as well. There are even a few times that iTunes just flat out refuses to transfer certain songs. Only after restarting my comp a few times does it finally go through. If anyone would know why this would be the case that'd be great.

The only slow downs I have ever noticed with my 4 Gig nano is that when a song is playing, rolling through the menus is slightly delayed.
I have noticed, however, that the battery seems to be requiring charging more frequently than it did when I first got it, late last year. I make a point to not charge it until the battery is near empty, but it's becoming more noticeable.

That's just something batteries do. Almost all rechargable batteries can only recharged a set amount of times. If you recharge it every night, it will crap out a lot faster then if you only recharge it when it's battery runs out, once a week, it will last a lot longer.FSTargetDrone wrote:I have noticed, however, that the battery seems to be requiring charging more frequently than it did when I first got it, late last year. That only applies to Ni-Cads- that does not apply to Li-Ion batteries, which should be kept charged.

The Apple site goes into quite a bit of detail on this point: they mention that the Lithium ion batteries are good for a few hundred charge cycles. It's a built-in point of failure, but it's better than the alternative, especially if you like the Nano-sized players.Singular Quartet wrote:Nope, applies to lithium-ions as well. Thankfully there's no charge-memory with Li-ions, but all rechargable batteries eventually die.

The bigger problem with Li-ions is that they degrade over time regardless of actual usage. They have a lifetime of about 3 years.

I know. I only charge the iPod when its battery is nearly exhausted. Ever since I found out that an iPod returned to Apple to get the battery replaced is not the same iPod you will get back, I've been even more careful about extending the battery life as much as I can. When the time comes for the battery to be replaced, I will probably buy an aftermarket battery and do it myself. That's just something batteries do.
