Forward the Arcadia! (TGOD-ish) (CVBG)

Post by Uraniun235 »

WE HAVE A WIKI!
Thanks, Destructionater!

http://arsdnet.net/cvbg/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

WE NEED BAD GUYS!
CTF-81's mission, in a nutshell, is to go about the world and put out brushfire conflicts before they erupt into full-scale wars. If you would like to assume the role of someone involved in just such a brushfire, and test your mettle against the naval might of the UN, please do not hesitate to apply now by posting in this thread.

Image
what a REAL CVBG looks like

IMPETUS: Disdainful of the "cvbg" started in Testing (some venereal club or some other shit, I don't remember... nothing to do with carriers or battle groups), Uraniun235 assumed the rank of Admiral and started a "real CVBG".

Within days, he assembled a mighty naval force, the sum power of which is second only to that of the US Navy itself.

This force became so large that it grew even beyond a carrier group and into two strike groups (plus, it was made known that CVBG's had fallen out of use in favor of strike groups).

PREMISE: Coalition Task Force 81 is basically a multinational task force under the authority of the United Nations, charged with "preserving the peace" primarily through extinguishing brushfire conflicts before they can spread into larger and deadlier wars.

See this post for a more complete version.

After page 13 of this thread, all story and character developments were thereafter posted on another thread (here) for purposes of keeping things neater.

FURTHER APPLICATIONS:

Navy: Please note that we already have quite a sizable naval force. At this time we do not require any more ship commanders. Current ship commanders are free to hire additional officers if they so choose, and as such if you're desperate to be a naval officer you may try seeing if anyone will have you as their XO... however you would be much more valuable if you were to apply for an aviation or marine position.

Aviation: The Arcadia's air group is primarily under the command and organization of Brother-Captain Gaius. Please direct applications for pilot positions or additional crew (some of the aircraft require more than one person to fully operate) or squadron command to the Brother-Captain. The Air Group is listed below to give you an idea of what is open.

Marine: Expeditionary Strike Group 28 is commanded by Brigadier General Relihan. There are a number of marine aviation posts open; direct applications for such to the General. The 10th Marine Expeditionary Brigade is commanded by Colonel Tychu; please direct applications for positions within the Marine force to the Colonel.

When you ask for a position, please be sure to note what kind of aircraft you'd like, to note whether you're looking to just be a pilot or to be a squadron commander, and to note what role you'll play (i.e. anti-sub warfare, air superiority, electronic warfare, etc.) The Air Group CO will (hopefully) post a list of aircraft soon which I will integrate into this main post, and from there you can see what's available.

That said, here is the list:

Welcome back, Comrade Admiral. If I'm not mistaken, Captain Gaius had finalized the organization of the Arcadia Air Group. Whether his files survived the... "incident", I don't know. My dossiers were not up-to-date when the source roster was lost. It won't happen again, sir.

Anyway, about the submarines, Admiral: If someone will tell me what roles we need to fill I should be able to procure a couple of boats and good officers to command them. Also, pending your orders, I will begin working on CTF 81's history and general objectives immediately.

[From here on out, everything out-of-character I say will be in brackets. If this gets moved to G&C, and we make an actual RP out of it, people may want to create characters that aren't a complete self-insertion. If anyone wants to do that, please provide your name (real or fictitious), nick (screen name or something else, if applicable) and a brief backstory including country of origin, career and prior experience. It's up to you guys, but you might want to wait until the admiral's approved a campaign setting. I will keep track of PC officer and enlisted personnel files.]

Admiral, I do believe the "tentative" name of "Hedonism" has been confirmed for my ship.

I would submit that Colonel tychu of the United States Marine Corps be added to the tentative roster, in command of the 10th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Admirals.

I'm not entirely sure what this is, but I know there's the possibility that a mod might let you move it to an actual forum. So, in the meantime, I've made it into an announcements, since I believe even stickies get flushed automatically if no one posts in them for 24 hours (which is possibly what happened to your previous thread, guys).

Upon reviewing the composition of my group, would it be appropriate for me to make Commodore Ar-Adunakhor's Harbinger my flagship?

I have no objections. In fact, I was assuming it was going to be the command ship, hence the C4I upgrade. Mind though, it's still my ship, don't get any uppity ideas about commanding it. :P

Noticing with some level of concern that I am everybody's bitch the lowest-ranking officer in the battlegroup, I'd like to request a promotion to element commander of Bravo, sirs.

They absolutely can-look for some pictures of Vietnam era Cobras- but I'm afraid the Seahawk doesn't have much of a nose to paint it on.

I believe it says United States Navy next to my ship, when I am in fact Canadian, so if one of the chief officers could please change this, I'd be much obliged.

Done and done, LCDR. Though lieutenant isn't half bad, remember it's equivalent to an Army captain. ;)

Admiral, the Indefatigable is a Type 45/Daring class. It's capable of bringing along some naval Storm Shadow cruise missiles if needed.

For the shipyard crew, we had a quartet of extra 40mm guns added, two fore, two aft, and the torpedo launchers and Harpoons fitted.

Brother-Captain Gaius, if you like, it would be in line with Arcadia's... heritage, if you will, if two of the fighter squadrons were named the "Cosmowings" and the "Space Wolves". However, it's your call... just a thought I had.

They're from Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers), if I recall correctly. Truly, a fine vintage.

Say, could I swap my ship for the Dewey as long as it's vacant? If it's possible, I'd like to keep the name- HMS Agamemnon.
