I already told you man, that was Sons of Horus. :P

The exact colors aren't properly recorded but the later was consistently darker than the other. Essentially, Luna Wolves had white/off-white armor with the crescent moon & wolf face emblem, then switched to some shade of grey and used the Eye of Horus as their symbol.

Anywho, I found out yet another stall in the arrival of my primer: the local store I ordered it from had to finally call GW to find out they hadn't bothered shipping it out yet. It should arrive in the next day or so hopefully, but man, it's been taking everyone a damn long time just to get fucking black primer.

It's just one of the cardboard marker boards, I've got a few of them laying about and it makes the pictures a bit better rather than getting a windowledge full of paints and bits in the background (My painting "table" :D)

I was at the vetrans night at the local GW last night. I had two games, a 500 odd point patrol against some Sisters and a 1250 point game against some plague marines.

The patrol against the sisters was a slaughter, not one of them survived my plasma death :D

Against nurgle things were a bit trickier. I lost my dreadnaught in turn 2 to a a plasma gun, and my assault squad got caught short on a charge and ended up with two squads of plague marines charging them.

My own heavy weapons though did quite nicely, taking out one of his dreads in turn two and laying waste to two full squads and damaging his lord (one of those bloody awful demon prince pimped out lords...this one with strength and toughness 6 and a load of other stuff). My assault marines did well against nurgles ickiest, managing to take out six plague marines with just normal attacks in a single round. My vet sarge with a power weapon though didnt manage to kill a single model. Typical. :D

His plague marines got stuck in on the other side of the battlefield as well and took my cheap flamer squad down to two men before they fell back in good order and blasted away with their bolters. Two survivors from another plague squad charged my heavy plasma armed squad and started trying to slice it up with a plague sword. Unfortunately he hadnt noticed my nice new deathwatch captain lurking in the unit who then promptly killed his plague marines.

The funniest moment came in the last turn when the battle still hung in the balance. His lord was in charge range of on of my undamaged squads, if he could take them below half strength then the game would be pretty much a tie.

His lord was down to one wound from heavy weapons fire, and decided to use his "Winds of Somethingorother" power to blast my squad before charging in. He rolled a double 1...then managed to wound himself and fell over dead in a puddle of his own drool in front of my marines :D

End result another victory added to the annals of the Astrum Corvus.

Well, I might as well share my colored design sketch for my 4th Company Commander:

Image
I took one of the Create-A-Chapter templates, edited out the bolter, and redrew the torso and arms and weapons from scanned Index Astartes images. The shading is rough and the gold & black are off, but I've got a photo earlier in the thread to show the Chapter colors with veteran gold trim.

So essentially I'll need to give my miniature sculpted Blood Angels-style chestplate and feet, cloak, loincloth, sash, Crux Terminatus, plasma pistol, and power gladius. I think that about covers it. I may add sculpted kneepads like most of my other vets, but now I've got a good point to start sculpting.

Geez, that blows my proposed color scheme out of the water.

What do you guys think?

As for Chapter Names...I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm thinking "Roundtable Knights" but if anyone else has an idea I'd love to hear it.

Fuck the Blood Ravens, it's the school colors of Texas A&M!

Actually, I'm going to go to a hobby shop and try to find a darker maroon

I think mine blows it out of the water.

No seriously, I think it has some potential. Avoid going too red or using golds and you should keep it distinct from Blood Ravens. A name like 'Knights Enclave' or 'Covenant Knights' might have a better ring to it, though.

Well, "Scab Red" was the darkest GW I could find, which is why I'm going to go off and find a real maroon, like the kind my old school uses.

Image

I believe the Blood Ravens (and most others) tend to use a brighter red. I want my maroon to look more like that.

Yeah, their red is pretty dark, but it's much deeper in tone that that. You might have better success in mixing a small bottle of your own color, like 50/50 dark red & dark grey.

Hmm...well, here are some other schemes I've been playing around with:

Seems to me the first one would get dirty pretty quickly.

Here's the rest of my Eldar painted so far... I still need to pick up another blister of scorpions and spiders (shown in the last set of photos).

I also have Maugan Ra painted, but I neglected to photo him

Overall, I'm much more pleased with this group of models than the last, especially the scorpions, Karandras, and Asurmen

Just curious. I don't know how popular "Monster" units are.

LadyTevar: Thanks very much. I thought it looked horrible at first, then I realized when you don't have your nose right up on it the appearance improves a great deal

Lonestar: I got him because he ends up being cheaper than a farseer with gear, and I like to roleplay my armies as much as possible.

I don't have any wraithguard, for example, because I don't play Inyanden, and i'm still predjudiced against them for the bad rep they (among other things) gave Eldar for Cheese in 2nd Ed.
