Bah, Patroclus's sword is bullshit. I picked it up in my teens, and my yellow gladius (*Grumbles about lack of xiphos*) with full Prometheus blew it out of the water in DPS.

I just got this game. My highest level is a level 14 in crete. My brother has an assasin in egypt. It's alot of fun. What is everyones favorite class combo?
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;

That glitch has happened to me twice. Once in Dephi the other time in Athens. Both really big graphic intesive citys. I find that zooming in with the mouse whell fixes it.Brother-Captain Gaius wrote:It's a little disappointing for someone like me who loves intricate character creators, like City of Heroes's or Soul Calibur III's, but it's really not too bad once you get into it. Maybe it's just because I'm playing Hoplite Bob (well, Lysandros) at the moment, but I've hardly noticed the generic-ness of my dude through that sexy Corinthian-style helm.Stofsk wrote:Before when you said that the appearance isn't customisable, does that mean all your characters look the same? Where's stark? This sounds like the sort of thing he might bitch about.
So with all items stripped off, yeah they would look mostly identical. But past level 5 or so it's a bit of a non-issue.
Interestingly enough, I got that last night after having played for many hours on end (in addition to general slow ups). I don't think I was overheating, so it may have been the game just being silly.Vympel wrote:I started playing the game, i got a weird video glitch problem where the inventory would sort of white out (the grid would dissapear etc) and the text would go all blocky and unreadable.

I've only gone down the Ranger route. I'm intrigued by the Rogue, Spirit, and Storm and Defender combos.Aeolus wrote:I just got this game. My highest level is a level 14 in crete. My brother has an assasin in egypt. It's alot of fun. What is everyones favorite class combo?
I'd like to try out the Paladin (Storm/Defender), Rogue, Warlock (Rogue/Spirit) and Elementalist (Storm/Earth) classes.

I would like to try a battlemage sort soon, and perhaps a pure caster.

Conjurer(Spirit/Earth), I described the class earlier, but now I have a rare Flaming Bone Staff of Flames(kek)(38 base fire damage, +12 fire damage +11-20 fire damage) with a full Essense of Shen-Nong's Dark Medicine(45 poison damage over 5 seconds, -12 target resistances for 5 seconds, +3-8 damage), and a Venom Heart Epic necklace(+21 poison resistance, 72-102 poison damage over 6 seconds, +25 poison damage and +50% improved poison duration), When Earth Enchantment(doubles my damage) is on, I have an average damage of 339, Damage per second of 307, Terion Attack fires 3 of those, with +5 percent damage, Ternion Attack also spreads each of those shots over 2.5 meters. The Egyptian Telkine, as well as the Egypt final boss provide no challege, and most regular monster(including heros) drop in a single shot(generally in multiples). I also now have Stone Form, which instantly makes me invincible for several seconds with enhanced regeneration(about 1/3rd my life right now) and retaliates a little(insignificant, I'll probably suck the points out of it) damage.Aeolus wrote:I just got this game. I wouldn't say its broken, I'd just say its terribly unpolished. I think had they spent more time tweaking it, and trying to put out very well done game, Titan's quest may have been superior Diablo II. Its like they had a great idea for a game, they got it completed, mostly working, and instead of spending some more time playing with the stats(drop rates, toying with the skills to make them all mostly worthwhile[half of each mastery is not something I'd really ever consider using] yet no real obvious exploits(and unobvious ones fixed by patching) they just pushed it out.Stark wrote:Yes AB, the game is horribly broken.Anarchist Bunny wrote:Conjurer(Spirit/Earth), I described the class earlier, but now I have a rare Flaming Bone Staff of Flames(kek)(38 base fire damage, +12 fire damage +11-20 fire damage) with a full Essense of Shen-Nong's Dark Medicine(45 poison damage over 5 seconds, -12 target resistances for 5 seconds, +3-8 damage), and a Venom Heart Epic necklace(+21 poison resistance, 72-102 poison damage over 6 seconds, +25 poison damage and +50% improved poison duration), When Earth Enchantment(doubles my damage) is on, I have an average damage of 339, Damage per second of 307, Terion Attack fires 3 of those, with +5 percent damage, Ternion Attack also spreads each of those shots over 2.5 meters. I'm not saying Diablo II was completely free of these problems, but they seemed to have spent some more time on this than whoever that made Titan's Quest.
This is a fun, well made, Diablo style game, but I don't see myself ever playing it an eighth of what I played Diablo II.
It looks like we'll still have to wait til Hellgate: London for the next great Diablo game. *crosses fingers*

From what I've heard, it's more along the lines of normal being a cakewalk, epic being difficult, then legendary being hard enough that many characters can't finish.Stark wrote:Yes AB, the game is horribly broken.

I'd be shocked and mortified if someone PMd me the link to the new crack. My usual non-inquiries have thankfully turned up nothing at the usual websites I do not frequent.
Like Legend of Galactic Heroes? Please contribute to http://gineipaedia.com/
This is true of *some* builds, others are hard from the start. Taking rogue and spamming traps, or nature and spamming pets, or spirit and spamming ternion is simply too easy. The game shouldn't be about running in circles around standard terrible AI while your pets or arrow traps kill everything.Graeme Dice wrote:From what I've heard, it's more along the lines of normal being a cakewalk, epic being difficult, then legendary being hard enough that many characters can't finish.
Like AB says, the skill trees aren't very well thought out. Since the only reason I'm playing is to mess with builds, this means more than half the possible combinations will never be used because they're just bad. I tried taking defender first: no pets, no spells, and an attack power with a cooldown. Massively, massively harder than just taking warrior first *then* adding defender. Rogue (as always) is always useful, since you don't actually have to put points in any particular stat, and everyone loves poison, debuffs and cheesy traps.

The only difficult monster you need to kill in the first 8 levels is the first centaur boss. You can do that without putting a single skill point into any skill, so there's really no difference in the order you pick your masteries.Stark wrote:I tried taking defender first: no pets, no spells, and an attack power with a cooldown. It makes a significant difference in the number of potions required: as nature or rogue, I used no more than half a dozen, as a defender probably more than thirty. I didn't even know you could *buy* potions until I tried to buy more as a defender.Graeme Dice wrote:The only difficult monster you need to kill in the first 8 levels is the first centaur boss. I think it is superior in some ways, it's equal in everything else. I can think of only a couple of things where TQ is lacking compared to D2, but I can think of more things where D2 is severely lacking when compared to TQ.Anarchist Bunny wrote:I wouldn't say its broken, I'd just say its terribly unpolished. None of that condemns the game. They can release patches, or expansion packs, and so on.Its like they had a great idea for a game, they got it completed, mostly working, and instead of spending some more time playing with the stats(drop rates, toying with the skills to make them all mostly worthwhile[half of each mastery is not something I'd really ever consider using] yet no real obvious exploits(and unobvious ones fixed by patching) they just pushed it out.
Titan Quest has just come out, D2 has been around for at least 6 years. The comparison isn't justified. Give it some time.I'm not saying Diablo II was completely free of these problems, but they seemed to have spent some more time on this than whoever that made Titan's Quest.
*shrug* Fair enough.This is a fun, well made, Diablo style game, but I don't see myself ever playing it an eighth of what I played Diablo II.
