Well, if you really want to play Tau (and, aside from the forge-world list, which I don't have access to, they're a bit underpowered) you can. But if it's set in 200.M41, in the Pacificus segmentum, it's hundreds of years before they became a significant power, on the other side of the galaxy...StarshipTitanic wrote:I'll take the Tau if you're worried about too many Imperials, especially since they're completely unrepresented so far.

Ah, ok then, I'll stick with the Imperials.

Oh. And eldar (Corsair and Craftworld Fleet) players, between them, will get a craftworld. Provided I can find the rules for that, I'm sure they're somewhere.

2000 or so points would be fine for me...also my talk of this has prompted people at the local GW to dust off their gothic fleets.

So how are we playing this?
I took a quick look at that Open RPG website and it looks like it is real time which could pose a problem for Euro vs North American games (or any other game where the participants are in a significantly different time zone)
And will we be using the rules straight from the book or the updated rules?

I assume we can't use both the Ships of Gothic Sector and the individual lists of ships in our fleets?
EDIT: Changed can to can't.

Egads, there's so many ships to sift through.
EDIT: So as not to spam, I'll say here that I approve of the extended rules. In despite of my newbishness, they seem useful. Any idea what victory condition we should use?

Dear god, the complexity I'd have thought that a campaign with 17 players in it would benefit from a bit of simplicity, myself. I certainly wouldn't want to administer a large-scale campaign with all those rules.NecronLord wrote:Also, what does everyone think of Goya's expanded campaign rules? Here
With a campaign of this size and complexity, I'm rather keen on the idea. Not only because the scope of operations, but also because damnit, if I'm running a campaign, I want those nifty extra rules!

Sure you can. Indeed, you're also able to use (most, there's a few that say the Imperium doesn't have access to them) chaos ships in Imperial Navy fleets, and encouraged to use Imperial Navy ships in Chaos fleets.StarshipTitanic wrote:I assume we can't use both the Ships of Gothic Sector and the individual lists of ships in our fleets?

Put me down for Orks, never played them table top, but they always looked fun, and as a raiding fleet, makes it easier to play with my schedule

The rules NL posted just alter how a campaign works rather than battles.Feil wrote:As for the updated rules--I would think that, with 2/3 of the players new to Gothic (myself included) we would be wanting to stick with the simpler ones, even if they are less given to depth and variation.

Well, if I don't have to understand them, whatever NecronLord wants is fine.
EDIT:
Does this look like a decent fleet?
2000 points, Imperial Navy
1x Retribution Battleship (365)
2x Overlord Battlecruiser (470)
2x Dominator Cruiser (380)
2x Dictator Cruiser (440)
3x Falchion Frigate (105)
3x Firestorm Frigate (120)
4x Cobra Destroyer (120)

Okay, I've got some campaign maps done.
The Bastion Sector
Maps.doc.
The Bastion sector is an area, at the time of the campaign, on the fringe of Imperial space, in the north western corner of Segmentum pacificus. Rather lawless, it was recently (M38 to M39) aquired by a crusade, following the charts of the vain Rogue Trader Meldus Oberal (notable for naming an entire sub-sector after himself, though the vanity of 'Ultima Oberal' is often seen as an upstart parody of Macharius, as such, the official name has been changed). For this reason, not all areas of it have reliable warp routes connecting them, and some notable 'uninhabited' worlds have been marked down for colonisation, but not yet colonised. Elsewhere, two alien systems persist in the sector. Several forge and hive worlds take advantage of the fantastic mineral resources found in the sector, and several systems have penal-mining colonies on them where conditions are too difficult to allow for a more stable force.
