Amphibs don't have CAGs, because they don't have aircraft assigned to it, the aircraft is assigned to the MEU.JointStrikeFighter wrote:Being the resident F-35 Fanboy here would it be alright if i assumed the role of CAG on the Omaha?
Failing that just leader of one of the F-35 Squadrons?

With the investiture of life into the GDI after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, several nations began to resent the growing power of the armed wing of the United Nations, and the influence the much-pitied United States wielded in the formation of the GDI. Leader among them was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which had been shrinking since the end of the Third World War. Further angered by the loss of international prestive and the perceived rebuff forbidding them from sending troops into Afghanistan, Alekseyev's government wielded influence in the central Asian republics to "accidentally" divert forces away from fleeing Taliban and al-Qaida writers. What began as a childish ploy to spite the United States quickly turned into a distrustful alliance, as the Soviets housed the fugitive Talibans in bitter camps in Siberia. In fact, the Soviet Union kept at least three nuclear missiles trained on the camps at all times, in case the terrorists suddenly became a liability, but did nothing as the ex-Taliban recovered and continued to train.
China, a growing regional power, was becoming increasingly jealous of the United States' apparent superiority. Before World War III, it had appeared on the verge of spending itself into oblivion; the war had reignited the United States' industrial might, and the nation was now consuming raw materials at a heretofore unheard-of rate; while China had five times the United States' people, it had a fifth the industrial capability, and though its recent rapid growth -- 10-12% GDP per year for four years -- was bringing its economy nearly up to the United States', it still lagged technologically and industrially behind the superpower, as well as its hated regional rival, Japan. The United States' support for Japan also worried and embittered China against the superpower; China therefore began looking for ways to destabilize the United States and hurt its economy. Therefore, the Asian nation turned to funding and equipping terrorism, both with new equipment and old surplus Soviet stuff.
Meanwhile, China made a surprising discovery: an informant in the third division of the old Soviet army reported that he had personally seen and trained several arabs in the use of special forces tactics. China went to the Soviet Union with this information, intending blackmail; instead, the Soviet Union produced several incriminating readouts detailing Chinese black market dealings. Rather than submit to blackmail and provide the Chinese with classified information, the Soviet Union proposed a secret alliance with China to undermine the authority and economic supremacy of the United States. Together, over the next two years, they approached several wealthy states which had no cause to love the United States nor the Soviet Union; all of the states agreed to divert funds to support the creation and training of a durable, grassroots terrorist movement stronger than the amateurish al-Qaida could ever have dreamt of being. Hamas, Hezbollah, the IRA, and the remnants of al-Qaida were bought out, and became noodly appendages to the shadowy new player on the world stage.
[Yes, it's beginning to get rather interesting, isn't it? Before the story develops more, however, we need some guidelines.Surlethe wrote:[EDIT at 7:04 pm, in reference to the other thread: thank god I don't have to play politics with anyone.]
[Well, isn't the point of background to know it before the story's written?]Ar-Adunakhor wrote:[...One last thing. Surlethe, that is interesting secret background info, but don't you think it would have been more fun for us to uncover it after playing the story for a while? [Not if it's secret background information that nobody should know yet and could heavily impact the story.Surlethe wrote:[Well, isn't the point of background to know it before the story's written?]Ar-Adunakhor wrote:[...One last thing. Honestly, this grew into something a hell of a lot bigger than I'd anticipated. I figured everyone would take a ship, we'd all have a laugh, and then we'd get bored of it and it'd get flushed down the Testing Express.Of course, I am just talking out my ass here. It could be that Uraniun intended for exactly that when he created the CVBG, so it would be better for him to make the decision.
How about Harrison?[Do you really want to go by Captain Pick? I'm not saying you have to use your real name or anything, I'm just wondering if maybe there's not a different name you'd prefer.]
The sweeping revisions to the world map and the appearance of the Flying Chow Mein Monster have killed my campaigns twice now. I'm essentially back at square one, so this would be a good time officially support the idea of a dedicated story team. I have a LOT of free time, and I like writing, but I'm nowhere near the most knowledgable person about these things. I'm more than willing to tell the story, but I want it to be a joint effort. Specifically, I want Surlethe and phongn in on it. I can do as much or as little as they want me to, but I want to know everything about everything so I can develop my character.Part of it is that Raptor's been putting out some pretty good stuff, and I'm not sure exactly where he's going with it and I don't want to step on his toes.
Already said, leaving the ship stock. I mean, it's a Flight IIA Arleigh Burke. That means 2 Seahawk copters, 2 VLS, Sea Sparrow, 5" gun, and 2 triple torpedo tubes. Since I'm not trying to be an honorable pirate anymore, I'm fine with that layout.Ar-Adunakhor wrote:[Last call for ship modifications, last call. Vengeance, I am looking at you.

I have a fresh Mediawiki (same as Wikipedia) install ready to go. Register and then contact me if you want to be promoted to admin, though that probably won't be necessary since surely none of you will troll it.
This is hosted on my home computer, which is plenty powerful enough and almost always on, so it should be good enough for this purpose. Contact me if there is anything else I can do.
