I can't believe it. Guy arguing for geocentric Earth.
There is a guy, on another forum, who is (apparently) serious that the earth is the center of the universe, . . . . . . .because any time of the year, the earth's axis points to the north star, and the southers cross. When someone tried to point out that the earth's distance of travel around the sun, . . . . though by our standards very huge, . . . . .in universal reality, that distance is VERY small, and that the north star is at such a great distance that our orbit isn't enough to show it. . . . . . . . he actually said that science HAS to make the universe "impossibly large" in order for that information to be valid.
He states that the stars that are visible on earth, by the nake eye, are 2 light DAYS away, . . . .because Adam was able to see them when he was created on "day 6". . . . .
I want to apologize now. . . . . . not all people who profess christianity are this daft.

There are actually people who deny trigonometry to suppress evidence that the Earth is astronomically distant from the nearer stars.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

The last one's a bit more reasonable, at least. It's simple math, but I don't go around with the exact numbers for how many weeks are in a year myself off the top of my head.Admiral Valdemar wrote:There are flat Earthers too, you can't really overestimate Human stupidity. I bet there are a lot of numbers you don't have off the top of your head but could be made to recall with a little reminder, like say eGeneral Zod wrote:The last one's a bit more reasonable, at least. Okay, I checked and saw just how wrong I am on that. I am bad with the math. Then again, it's cheating to ask someone to remember the entirety of an irrational number...

OK, now that you've demonstrated you haven't had any advanced math beyond trig...Molyneux wrote:3.25something?

Who said anything about the entirety? Most people just remember pi to 5 decimal places.

More on topic, it's not all that surprising that someone could be that stupid. I mean, there are still people who believe that, I believe someone once put it, a geriatric man loaded a specimen of every single animal species (and probably most of the plants, too) onto a boat and managed to keep the thing from foundering in a world-wide flood for almost a month and a half before running onto dry ground and subsequently distributing all of the species back to their original homes.

It could be worse. The best way to handle those people is to ask how there are animals in Austraila and North America, places that coiuld not have been repopulated in 5000 years or less. Then they just scream about how facts are evil and that you are the devil's servent and that I am going to Hell and that Jesus was a massive dick and warmonger. We all know Jesus was a metal fan and a hippie, or at least that's how I respond.Civil War Man wrote:Unless they've seen that Pi YTMND one too many times.Darth Servo wrote:Who said anything about the entirety? Not a month and a half; that was how long it was raining. yeah, after 3 months they found land and the animals allegedly dispersed, the old man couldn't be bothered to leave the ark for another year or two (I would have burned the damn thing as it must have reeked) were it not allegory.

Your first idea won't work either. They just say that magnetic north is at the center of the disk and magnetic south is the ring around the outside of the disk. Its amazing all the excuses someone so retarded can come up with.Darth Raptor wrote:I've always wanted to kidnap one of these flat-Earthers, tie them up and sail them around the world. It'd be interesting to see how they try to explain the dissapearing/reappering of things over the horizon, though. How is that going to happen on a flat Earth?
