Sexiest Voices in <insert musical genre of choice>

Post by Zaia »

I was just listening to "Intimate Secretary" by The Raconteurs, and there's a section where Jack White sings this bridge sort of thing, where a bit of effect is added to his voice and.....man, does he sound really fucking sexy. It's not just the effect, because I find his voice incredibly sexy in 'The Denial Twist' from his last White Stripes album too. Mmmm.

*ahem*

Anyway, I know there are a few other singers who make me loosen my hypothetical necktie, like Steve Perry (from Journey--say what you like about their music, but that man has a dead sexy voice), Tori Amos (especially when she draws out her r's), and James Hetfield (from Metallica--whenever he hits that low register or does one of his soft growls, my knee go a little weak). So who does it for you, and why?

German (I think) rock and cover band Queen of Japan's lead vocalist Koneko has an incredibly sexy voice, such that their cover of "Physical" blows Olivia Newton-John's original totally out of the water. Other highlights are their covers of "Do You Think I'm Sexy" and "Sexual Healing," as well as "Seedy Films," "Apostle of Love,"and "Showdown."

Legal MP3 and RM page with a sample of their stuff.

And of course, I find Björk to be absolutely luscious on some songs.

EDIT: Added links for QoJ songs.

Maybe not a particular person, but Capello in and of itself is gorgeous. A well led and versed choir with just the power of their voice can move me to all sorts of emotion, from tears to lust.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

A cappella music can make you feel lusty? That's interesting... It's made me feel some pretty intense emotions, but I don't think horny was ever one of them. :P

(Then again, maybe I'm just listening to the wrong sort of a cappella music....)

With the right song, strong male base and female accents; it's almost like sex in a musical sense.

The woman from Cradle of Filth is called Sarah Jezebel Diva, and I think she's wonderful, even though I hate Dani Filth's vocals pretty profusely.

Pete Steele of Type O Negative's voice I personally find very attractive, his shoutier voice not as much, but his quiet talking voice is cool.

Trent Reznor's voice is vulnerable but profusely angry/sad/whatever, and while I don't think it'd work well with many musical arrangements, it works in NIN.

Corey Taylor, of Stone Sour/Slipknot's voice gets a special mention, I think his melodic singing is amazing. I'm not really convinced about his "harsh" vocals, but his melodic stuff I would love to be able to approach someday. Burt from Fear Factory similarly so.

Edit: Added some links to videos which illustrate what I'm talking about.

Amy Lee from Evanescence has a very smooth, sexy voice in my opinion.

For some odd reason, Pink 's voice does something for me as well.

Sexiest voice in music?

My personal favourite is Patrick Wolf.

In terms of female singers im actually at a loss. I honestly can't think of any female singers that make me here the voice and be attracted by more than appearance....

Hands down, Jennifer Charles of Elysian Fields/Lovage.

http://www.bigbaer.com/nathanielmerriweather_lovage.htm

Theres some samples on that page. I recommend Book of the Month, Stroker Ace, and Strangers on a Train as the best examples there.

*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED* Stroker Ace video.

You know the singers off of Celtic Woman? Yeah, all of them. Just pure sexiness. I could listen to them all day. In fact, I think I will.

Leaves' Eyes' female vocalist is pretty good.

To be honest, I don't find male vocals very "sexy". Rye already mentioned Type O Negative, and I have to say I agree with him.

I like Cursive's vocals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtxIJt2J ... ch=cursive

Rye: I like CoF's vocals, even Dani's :P

Seconded. Also Eva Cassidy, her voice just makes me stop and listen to whatever she was singing.

Hey, the last time this thread appeared, I mentioned that chick from her singing in Nymphetamine!
To be honest, I don't find male vocals very "sexy". Rye already mentioned Type O Negative, and I have to say I agree with him.
Well, on "Be My Druidess" he says "I'll do anything...to make you cum" it's very flattering even if he's not talking to you directly. ;)
Rye: I like CoF's vocals, even Dani's :P
I think his lyrics are awesome, but he should get Shagrath or someone to sing them.

Evanescence is terrible, but Amy Lee is one of the two women on Earth with whom I'd hit it on the basis of voice alone.

Kathleen Edwards is a female folk vocalist whose voice makes me want to touch myself as well.

Sarah McLachlan, especially when she does her cool vocal shifts like at the end of the Mirrorball version of "I will remember you". I don't know what it is but it's just so hot. Ok, so I have a crush on Sarah too but that's besides the point.

Sarah Slean when she does one of her slower simpler songs, "St. Francis" for example. She's got a sexy voice, reminds me of a cabaret singer on some of her songs.

For male vocals, the lead singer of Samael once they switched to clean vocals. I love his voice; there's just a hint of growl. Together is one of my favourites. I prefer the album version, but the live is pretty good too.

I'm rather fond of the bassist of Dimmu Borgir who has been doing the clean vocals for the past few albums for some reason.

As for female vocals, I'm currently enamored with Angelzoom. The band name is silly, but her voice is great. I can't link to any of the songs directly, but there's some song samples on the website. I recommend Turn the Sky, which is a collaboration with Apocalyptica.
