Of course, you'd have to make things all a bit more orky, but a Tau battlesuit wiv some proper shootas stuck on an' painted red would probably look quite natty.
There is some potential there, though bear in mind there is a 0-1 limit on Loota Boyz and Looted Vehicles. And given how fucking ancient the Orky codex is, it certainly won't list Tau equipment as available loot.

That said, nothing is stopping one from turning a Crisis suit into a Killa Kan (as long as all weapons are properly represented) or similar Orkifications of Tau stuff - the same principle as using a Land Raider hull as a Battlewagon, really.

Well, IIRC, the Loota entry has a clause saying that, with the opponent's permission, a unit of Lootas can be armed with the same options of any infanty unit.

And if you want to use mulitple Lootas, he could also use the Death Skulls clan, which has a lot of Lootas.

Da red-uhns go fastah!!!

I wonder how one would do an Orkified Hammerhead, maybe sub the rail gun for a huge zap cannon? Tau battlesuits manned by grotz, shootaz with mangled pulse rifles and carbines, the potential is limitless.
Death-skulls or Evil Sunz are a must for this setup though, no one else is crazy enough.

Any Guard or Marine squad, and the options don't include taking the armour, mearly weapons and ranade options. Although that would include drones.
And yes, the Deathskull varient list has Lootas as both Troops and Heavy support with the numbers limitations for looted vehicles removed.

I know...first time I had seen such models, though. I'd thought they would be bog-standard IG, but this guy gave them Tau helmets and shoulderpads.

GW's webpages have a bunch of conversions shown for them, just mix the Firewarrior and Cadian Guard sprues any which way and make sure you've got human feet. It was either the US or UK site, maybe both, I can't recall; I first looked through them 5-6 months ago and not too often since.

I'd like to see a Tau Empire (why is it 'Empire' anyway? Too similar to Imperium if you ask me, it should be 'Collective' or 'Federation' or something else more unique. Anyway...) army that has a real patchwork, weathered feel, something to emphasize a 'people's army' style of the Tau, as if they're a poorly-supplied detachment with the Firewarriors getting the majority of medical treatment and armaments compared to the non-Tau troops. Throw in some Tarellians and other allies into the auxillary units and you'd get a pretty distinct version of the army.

But then again we've already established Sidewinder just wants to do Navy SEALS. :P

To be fair, given that half people's armies are probably Marines ANYWAYS, theres an awful lot of "paintball matches" going on--either that or alot of internal feuding. :D

Not sure how you'd do that Tau army, though I'm trying to give my fire warriors the feel of being mixed Kroot/Tau/Human units--the greater good cares not what you are, just that you fight.
