Annoying COmputer Problem

Post by Solauren »

Hello all

My computer is having a WEIRD problem.

DUring boot up, it sometimes cuts out halfway through and then reboots.

Now, it's started doing it a minute or two after start up.

Is this a hardware problem (i.e Ram, Power Supply) or Software (windows reinstall needed?)

Thanx

When I have seen this it has generally been a problem with the motherboard.

EDIT: You might want to check the capacitors on the motherboard, if they have a rusty colour on the top of them then that should be what it is.

Should look like this:
Image
Marcus Aurelius: ...the Swedish S-tank; the exception is made mostly because the Swedes insisted really hard that it is a tank rather than a tank destroyer or assault gun
Ilya Muromets: And now I have this image of a massive, stern-looking Swede staring down a bunch of military nerds. "It's a tank." "Uh, yes Sir. Please don't hurt us."

If it is quite new (which I don't know) try restoring windows
If it is quite old most likely have to buy a new motherboard (if it really annoys you), might as well buy a new computer.

It could be due to hardware incompatibility. I had a computer that reboots itself whenever the ADSL modem fails to connect on startup.

Yup, I needed (and now have) a replacement motherboard.

I didn't upgrade the motherboard, cause I'm going to get a new system in the next year or two, so I didn't see the point

Thanx all
