Graphic card help

Post by Faram »

Okay I have a ATI Radeon x850 and thinking about upgrade, but I am at a loss.

Is a Radeon x1300 better or worse? I saw one cheaper that a 850 and some searches on the net left me in a even greater state of confusion, I guess I am not as up to date as I used to be.

No, although the X1300 is newer tech, it does not have even have half the power of the X850.

Stay away from the X1600, both the X1800 and the X1900 would offer great preformance. I'm kinda out of date on benchmarks so someone else could probebly offer more percise help.

Unless you are gaming at 1280x1024 with 4AA or at higher resolutions, your card is perfectly fine untill mid 2007.

Of course, I AM in the above situation with the equivilent card, its painful

Oblivion looks and runs great on my 9800 pro, so I think you're still good. Nothing from the midrange of the current crop will be an upgrade for an X850 Pro or XT, except in terms of having SM 3.0 support, which still isn't that big of a deal yet. Otherwise, only an X1800 or 1900, or a GF 7800 or 7900 will actually give better performance.
