Yay boobs

A JAPANESE company claims to have developed a 100 per cent natural chewing gum able to increase the size, shape and firmness of women’s breasts naturally.

The main ingredient, a wild plant called pueraria mirifica, grows in Thailand and contains a number of natural compounds, called phytoestrogens, which mimic the effects of the female sex hormone oestrogen. Tests carried out by Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University found pueraria mirifica was able to enhance breast size by 80 per cent, and further tests carried out in England found that the plant also had a beneficial effect on the skin and hair, as reported by the BBC, medical journals and other news outlets.

As early as 1960 it was found that the isoflavone contained in pueraria mirifica had a fundamental element for breast enlargement, puerarin, which soy isoflavone does not have. This is the essential and ‘secret’ element’ of B2UP for breast enhancement.

Puerarin is not constant in amount since pueraria mirifica is natural vegetation, but carefully selected pueraria mirifica of good quality has been used in this product. This is the biggest difference between B2UP and other pueraria mirifica products.

Capsule or tablet based supplements are normally taken with water and must pass through the digestive system. Though this method delivers a large amount of the supplement, the body will naturally eliminate a significant portion of it. Since B2UP is ingested through the mouth membrane without water, more of the essential supplement is delivered to and maintained in the body.

Pueraria mirifica is alleged to develop the mammary tissues in the breasts. This can help to enlarge the breasts by lengthening and branching the ducts that connect to the nipple.

It can also increase the fatty tissue and ligaments around the breasts which provide support and shape.

These ducts branch out from the nipple into the interior of the breast, ending in clusters of lobules. B2UP helps to maintain the collagen and stimulate the development of new cells in the skin, which improves the breast skin and maintains a natural look.

How long does it take to see the effects? This varies between individuals. About 70 per cent of those surveyed felt the changes within two months. Some other reported findings are that rough, dry skin became well, skin became rehydrated, wrinkles round the eyes were smoother, morning tiredness had been remedied, physical condition had improved, menstrual cramps had been alleviated and hair had grown thicker and faster.

So aside from breast enhancement, B2UP could have other advantageous effects on the body.

B2UP Body Make-Up Gum has been a huge success in Japan, America and Russia with more than 100,000 bottles sold since March 2005, and overall statistics claim a 95 per cent success rate for most women.

Presumably it does funny things to his chest and makes him the laughingstock of his friends whenever that story's brought up? I seriously doubt any guy would continue taking it once he realized what it was doing :P

I'm just trying to refrain from making a shit ton of "Japanese=small boobs" jokes.

I wonder if, assuming the research bears out and there aren't negative side effects (ala cancer from smoking), if we will see a backswing in what society considers attractive in 50 years time towards small boobs.

There's a suspicious lack of actual numbers in the article. Lots of people 'feel' a difference, or dry skin clears up, a whole bunch of other subjective crap. There's no reason to imagine we're looking at even half a cup size increase, so who cares? Why would anyone assume the results would continue to improve when the increased levels remain the same?

There's an American product (I forget the name) which is supposed to enhance the bust, but only temporarily. Apparently it increases the blood flow around the bust or somesuch malarky.

I saw an advert for it once, and it involved this woman taking the product at a dinner table and her boobs just inflated there and then (obviously with some kind of inflatable under her top). Silly... but fun. :)

Look at the phone number. Obviously this is yet another of Satan's dirty tricks to corrupt souls. Sure, you may get bigger boobies that are firmer and have a more pleasant shape and feels even better to the touch... *fap fap fap* err... yes, but you will go to Hell for it! Teh Satan!

It does say 80%. One university's tests, and we don't have the paper itself to look at, but that's a fairly solid number we can at least say is the enhancement claimed. Don't quite know if that's supposed to mean volume or what, though.

It's essentially bullshit. Utter, total bullshit. For one thing, look at the article. It reads less like a credible news article and more like a breathless advertisement of a product. Secondly, just try to search for it on the web. Look for credible research on this particular substance. It's a task that requires almost superhuman patience, as you have to wade through hundreds of links hawking breast enhancement creams and pills and other such bottles of modern snake-oil. While it is metabolized into a substance that will act on estrogen receptors, this doesn't mean that it causes breast enlargement.

Phytoestrogens are much, much weaker than the regular sort. So much so, that in a healthy woman of reproductive age, they actually behave in a way that is very much like taking anti-estrogens, since they block off estrogen receptor sites from being bound up by regular estrogen. In order for this substance to have an effect, you need to administer huge doeses of it. (1000 milligrams for a lab monkey. That's a lot of substance, folks.)

They might have some use in menopausal women, since they provoke enough of an estrogen response to slow down menopausal/post-menopausal bone loss, and not enough of one to increase the risk of breast and uterine cancer. However, amusingly enough phytoestrogens like the one listed in the advertisement (which is exactly what the quoted article is,) tend to behave in a different manner than regular estrogen . . . insofar as such phytoestrogens tend to be selective about which estrogen receptors they bind to. Among those they don't bind to are the estrogen receptors in breast tissue as well as the uterine wall (or why phytoestrogens are marketed to post-menopausal women. They'll behave as estrogens in the blood and will act on estrogen receptor sites in a woman's bones and connective tissue, preventing mineral loss, but won't encourage cell growth and development in the breast and uterine wall . . . reducing the risk of breast and uterine cancers that can come with hormone replacement therapies.)

So in short, it may relieve the symptoms of menopause. It might even discourage sagging (owing to the estrogen-like effects on the connective tissues . . . like the ones supporting the breasts,) but it certainly won't make them grow.

Hey you're right - it's near the start. 'Up to' 80% of something mysterious and undefined, though, hence still worthless. Since it's Thailand, that could be 80% of fuck-all, even if the whole thing wasn't obviously bullshit.
