Care to explain why you think EB taking pre-orders is bullshit?

He's probably more concerned by pre-ordering something that lacks a concrete release date.

What's up with that, anyway? It's coming out... sometime... in the next three months. Are they desperately waiting for games to finish development or something?

Maybe they're just taking orders on the Cube version.

Can anyone verify this either way?

Neither version of TP has a nailed-down official launch date, so that line of thought offers no solution.

At E3, Reggie said on stage that the Wii and GameCube versions of TP would both be released on Wii launch day.

Well, when I inquired as to the possibility of a pre-order at my local EB Games, they said they wouldn't take preorders for the Wii, due to concerns over not meeting the launch-day demand (aka, they want to sell Wiis to the people at the store over people who just gave them money beforehand*).

As for the OP: Sweet damn that lineup looks good. And some of the titles could really dispel Nintendo's kiddy image.

*When I asked why they were doing this, the clerk said the policy came from his superioirs.

They've been doing that for well over a year over here. Any time for the past year that I've purchased or asked about GameCube games they've asked if I wanted to get the new Zelda game. (Last time was particularly bad, since the guy didn't know there would be separate GC and Wii versions.)
Later...

I pre-ordered Twighlight Princess for the wii a couple weeks ago. Now I don't know what all EBs are like but in Victoria B.C. they are taking Zelda pre-orders but no other wii titles or the console.

Asking a person who worked at GameStop, he says they're not taking any preorders on either the Wii or PS3 until they know exactly how many they're getting. If I had to guess that would be because of the serious pre-order shortages at the 360 launch.

That seems imminently reasonable. I think it would be okay to take pre-orders that would be available on the launch date, even if the launch date wasn't officially known (they could just tell customers that they would have a system for them on the release date), but until they know how many they'll be getting they can't even do that.

I used to work at GameStop (was working there during the XBox 360 launch).

The manager, a friend of mine, explained the same thing to me, but without the guess part. Microsoft really didn't give them an idea of how many units they were going to get until the last minute and they had to tell a lot of people with preorders to wait until the third or fourth shipment, causing a lot of them to take their money elsewhere or get quite mad. GameStop's trying to avoid a similar blunder and they're waiting until they know all the details before starting preorders.

Software is a different matter, because there are virtually NEVER software shortages. You can already preorder a few Wii games. For some reason, Zelda: TP is not on the list yet.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say, could you elaborate?
