Oh it's a BOOK. Stop piquing my interest like that.
So, is this for all the people too lazy to just play a 40K RPG without buying a book? I mean, seriously, there's enough fluff, units, weapons and locations to just play a game RIGHT NOW.
But then the whole industry is based on lazy morons without any creativity. Where would the supplement market be without them?

What is life without Stark hate?
I've done that twice. I also happen to have a high opinion of the job Green Ronin does on its games. And I like BOOKS.Stark wrote:Oh it's a BOOK. Stop piquing my interest like that.

Well everyone likes books... but I can't really get excited about an RPG (ie, a skills and combat system) for 40k... which already has a skills and combat system. Inquisitor is even better than regular 40k.
But hey, I guess some people like spending $50 on hardcover books with 30% fluff, 30% lame art, 20% tables, and 10% rules cribbed from somewhere else.
ZOMG, you must look at the Doctor Who RPG. It's so 80s, and so crap, and so overdetailed it's just not funny. PS Adric is as smart as the Doctor.

Inquisitor with its Marines taking lascannon shots to the head without armour and suffering only minor injuries and its crazy action point system? It's useful for fluff, but mechanically I'll pass.Stark wrote:Well everyone likes books... but I can't really get excited about an RPG (ie, a skills and combat system) for 40k... which already has a skills and combat system. I'm picky, but I'll buy it if I think it is good enough. But hey, I guess some people like spending $50 on hardcover books with 30% fluff, 30% lame art, 20% tables, and 10% rules cribbed from somewhere else.
Seen it a long time ago, my fuzzy memory seems to recalling it sucking quite badly.ZOMG, you must look at the Doctor Who RPG. It's so 80s, and so crap, and so overdetailed it's just not funny. PS Adric is as smart as the Doctor.

'Better' in the complexity of it's system, not it's accuracy. You're not one of those people who never jimmy their RPGs to taste, are you? I don't think I've played an RPG 'by the book' in more than ten years. They all suck at SOMETHING, whether it's damage (many violators), speed (many violators) or class stupidity (basically every class system ever) and require a bit of love before they're playable.Imperial Overlord wrote: Inquisitor with its Marines taking lascannon shots to the head without armour and suffering only minor injuries and its crazy action point system? Is there any preview of the content, or is that page all the information available? I mean, it seems like any 40k RPG is going to suffer similar problems to SW RPGs.

No, I'm not reluctant to take a crowbar to the system. (Of the two times I've run 40K as a table top game, once was using a variant of the Alternity system and the other is a heavily modified version of Inquisitor). That doesn't mean crappy game mechanics aren't isn't a terrible flaw.
As for mechanics, no examples released yet. They are apparently going to use the new Warhammer Fantasy RPG as a base, which work very well. How well they adapt them to 40K remains to be seen.

As I've said I've done it twice.Stark wrote:Ah, but with the resources from things like Necromunda, BFG, Inquistor and regular, it's pretty simple to have 40k RPG fun sans licensed hardcover sourcebook.
Considering how good their previous work is (and how bad Buck Rogers was:D), that should be a yes. Its a much better game mechanic to adapt anyway. And hopefully they do a better job than TSRs 'D&D with guns' Buck Rogers?
