Beyond Good and Evil(PC version)

Post by Anarchist Bunny »

So I was lucky enough to stumble accross this game new for cheap at a half-priced books the otherday, and after hearing so many good things about it I couldn't resist picking it up.

Its a wonderful, fun, quirky game(Pej'y: Hello ma'am, Candygram!), and it would be a joy to play if it didn't CRASH ALL THE GOD DAMN TIME!

Now I know the game tanked, so there might not be a whole lot of support from the parent company, but like VtM:Bloodlines I was hoping there might be a fan made fix to this problem.

Any help?

Despite hearing claims like yours, I've never experienced a crash, although a couple times sound didn't work in cutscenes.

Specs?

Ah, that could be your problem. My copy ran perfectly fine (apart from one crash and the occasional minor sound glitch), but that was on a Pentium 4.

Ubisoft has a patch out for AMD users. Not having read up on it, I assume it will help you.

BF&E v1.01 Patch

I poked around the official forums a bit, and it seems there is still a fairly solid fanbase, and despite the game's lackluster sales, Ubisoft considers it success and might be planning a sequel.

I thought it was suppose to be the first in a trilogy that got canned?

Could be. I just picked up the PC version a few weeks ago, so I am anything but well informed on such things.

It was pretty good in the early stages, but the later ones (pretty much everything after the Nutripills Factory level) focused way to heavily on tedious "memorise the guards' patterns and run past when their backs are turned" stealth sections. Still the good parts outnumbered the bad, and the characters were pretty cool, so I'd still classify this game as being worth playing.

It was announced that pre-production was beginning for a sequel perhaps eight months ago, but I haven't heard anything since.

Also, I saw a 3-pack of the first Splinter Cell game, Beyond Good & Evil, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for PC for $10 at Best Buy. Now that's a good deal.
