A Precursor (I think that was it.. or was it Predecessor?) ship from 'Forge of the Elders' could do it.. invulnerable hull and it's engines alone are carrying enough power in them to wipe out a solar system if released improperly.
An Evoluder Detonator or Battle Planet could both do the job as well.

I was thinking to something into those lines :
"You're a 1 million tons warship, a Psychopath-class Rapid Offensive Unit. If suddenly you wanted to...

My mistake, the Xenophobe is a Torturer-class ROU, not Psychopath-class !

Just a question - which class of ROU has the heaviest armament, the Torturer or the Psychopath??The Nomad wrote: My mistake, the Xenophobe is a Torturer-class ROU, not Psychopath-class !

They're escorts, not capship killers.Simon H.Johansen wrote: Then again, if the most numerous ships are smaller than ISDs, wouldn't they be quite easy fodder for Imperium ships??
Retribution might take the Giel or the Executor. Maybe not. However, Dark Empire showed several Galactic Empire battlecruisers in orbit 'round Byss which appeared to be the same size as Imperium of Mankind capital ships (3-6 km) - if ISDs are the equals of Lunar-class cruisers despite being much, much smaller and these behemoths are pitted against the Imperium, then the Imperium would probably not stand much of a chance if not for their strength in numbers.
And that's before we bring in the 10-20km long battleships such as Admiral Giel's flagship and Darth Vader's Executor....

What?? A Retribution-class is around 6km long If I recall correctly, while Giel's ship was 10-12 km long. (and the Executor was 18km long)Cpt_Frank wrote:Retribution might take the Giel or the Executor. Maybe not.
If the Imperium's 3km long Lunar-class Cruiser is inferior to the Galactic Empire's much smaller ISD, then how should the 6km long Retribution-class have any hope of taking on a 10km super-warship???

I wonder how the Imperiums' attack craft would fare. They're much bigger than SW ones, with the fighters being 3 or 4 men craft.

Possibly a necron escort, as they are able to (in fluff) take on IoM capships and win.

Last time I checked the strongest necron escort was worth 50 points and a match for a dauntless at most.NecronLord wrote:A blackstone fortress

Wait a minute... 610 GT torps right? And someone said it took several of those to kill a cruiser right? I assume several means 3-6 or so right?
Well as much as I hate to get into a WH40K debate at all... an ISD MKII's broadside... assuming the conservative number of 200 GT per barrel and thayt they only fire the heavy guns... is 6400 GT (12800 if the ISD manages to line the ship up for a proper frontal barrage). That's more firepower than ten torpedoes... which is according to what you said more than twice what it take to kill a WH40K cruiser.
And an ISD can survive that multiple times over...
So unless I'm missing something...

Yes you are the fact that each volley is said to consist of hundeds of torps.

Not that they are entirely official. though IIRC the site that produced them is visited by Andy C (designer of BFG) frequently.Typhonis 1 wrote:Abbadons Worldkiller,,Eldar Void Stalker ,,Ork Space Ulk,, and Most Heavy Cruisers from 40k ,yes the Imperial and Chaos Battleships as well.BTW there are rules for putting Star Wars in BFG

The ISD is overpowered. I don't doubt it's a match for an Imperium cruiser, but they list it as battleshipTyphonis 1 wrote:

Size doesn't matter, at any rate ISD shielding figures give it something like 32-160+ Teratons, my very generous estimates of lances give them 15TT a shot, and such shots tend to last many seconds, very low wattage in other words, which is totally crap for the IoM since it's the anti-thesis of a effective weapon in SW.Simon H.Johansen wrote:I think that most capital ships from Battlefleet Gothic might be able to kill an ISD, or at least cripple it.
They're definately many times as big as ISDs and designed to take on ships their own size - and the Desolator-class Battleship, which is around 4-6km long, would probably not have any problems crippling an ISD. A broadside from an Avenger-class Grand Cruiser would probably also do it.
And an ISD would definately not have many chances against a Space Marine Battlebarge...
And the ISD's outranges IoM ships.

I think it's not, Victory to the SW Empire I think is a given, the SWE has 50 million inhabited worlds, there are another 1 billion plus worlds used soley for mining resources, they have intra-galactic communication capabilities and can travel said distances in hours or days, the IoM requires 6 years or so to cross it's territory and their FTL comm-system IIRC is pretty unreliable.Simon H.Johansen wrote:A fight Empire vs Imperium would be very well-balanced and I think it'd be pretty impossible to determine a victor - that's of course in a scenario where the Imperium does not need to constantly fight with traitors, eldar, orcs etc.
Also the Empire's milliary doubled in strenght in just two years inbetween ANH and TESB, thats millions of ships and billions or trillions of soldiers.
Official figures put the Empires fleet at their peak at 10-22 million ships total.

Many sources, most planet destruction incidents, though the only somewhat verifiable one consisting of the Nightlords destruction of their own homeworld in a single volley, it was kinda made moot when another quote spoke of said planet having an excotic core responsible for the worlds explosion.NecronLord wrote:15TT?His Divine Shadow wrote: Size doesn't matter, at any rate ISD shielding figures give it something like 32-160+ Teratons, my very generous estimates of lances give them 15TT a shot, and such shots tend to last many seconds, very low wattage in other words, which is totally crap for the IoM since it's the anti-thesis of a effective weapon in SW.

Now the incident of the Retribution class pulverizing a moon(which I just guesstimated at 1000km diameter), I got that to 10GT/s lances only.
