Ted C's point is that the fact that the Borg even ALLOW intruders aboard their ship is utter garbage, and once again you're ignoring the exaggeration. You seem as unimaginative as the Borg you're sticking up for.vivftp wrote:You'll note I was correcting Darth Fanboys statement when he said:

The Borg do in fact care when people are running around their ship shooting them.

Furthermore, Ted makes an even better point. Because planting bombs and other destructive devices does a heck of a lot more damage than just shooting one or two drones before they adapt.

It was this episode. The link doesn't say, but the intro shows Seven and the Queen in a cube and they assimilate a whole planet by beaming their inhabitants into the two cubes and the diamond. We also see children IIRC, and families, being beamed into cubes, stuck, and game over. No idea how many people were on the planet.Ted C wrote:Please name the occasion when they actually used this tactic, because among First Contact, all the episodes of TNG involving the Borg, and all the episodes of VOY that I saw involving the Borg, they never did any such thing.NecronLord wrote:Normally they just beam people up Protocol Five - stripping them of any weapons, and stick them.brianeyci wrote:But if you're going to make a whole race based on capturing the enemy alive, at the very least think of ways to capture them more intelligent than zombie walking.

Humm. Missed that there. They do this, or at least, given the hordes of unarmed uniformed types, one would presume they use their version of protocol five in That Voyager Episode Where Seven Rejoins The Collective Whose Name I Forget.. Might have been called Dark Frontier. This is the only time we actually see a 'normal' assimiliation operation. In every other episode, they are attacking ships, and usually being borded. The only times I recall them boarding another ship are Scorpion (prior negotiation, and Seven possibly even threatens Tuvok with her disuptor, too!), BoBW, and First Contact. All of these are not the normal operations of the Borg collective - Grabbing Picard was unusual, Scorpion was very unusual, as was First Contact.Ted C wrote:Please name the occasion when they actually used this tactic, because among First Contact, all the episodes of TNG involving the Borg, and all the episodes of VOY that I saw involving the Borg, they never did any such thing.

I believe I have it on video somewhere. I shall watch it tonight and get back to you. But yes, in this episode, their standard prodedure is shown as thus:brianeyci wrote:It was this episode. - Enter orbit/near space.
- Beat the shit out of local fleet.
- Beam population up into 'assimilation chambers'
- Stick them with the vampire prongs.

Can you please quote where I was "sticking up" for the Borg?Darth Fanboy wrote: Ted C's point is that the fact that the Borg even ALLOW intruders aboard their ship is utter garbage, and once again you're ignoring the exaggeration. You seem as unimaginative as the Borg you're sticking up for.
I was simply correcting your statement because the Borg do actually care when someone goes shooting around their ship. Do you deny that? If not, then that's settled.
Forgot to mention. To add to the discussion about Dark Frontier, it was stated by the Queen that there were 392,000 of Species 10026.
Later on after the Borg have assimilated them 7 states:
SEVEN: Three hundred thousand individuals have been transformed into drones. Should they be congratulated as well?
So it might be a good number of them were killed during all the fighting so there's only about 300,000 left to be turned into drones.
BTW, there were 3 cubes there + the diamond. We barely get a glimpse of the third cube, but it's there alright.

There was zero indication you were trying to exaggerate or joke around with your original post on the matter. Maybe you could perhaps point it out to me? Here it is again for you:

The borg apparently just beam them up and push them into surgery chambers. Which is, pretty retarded. At one point, one of the locals sees Seven, and makes a break for it, but she reflexively catches him, and a borg sticks him with the vampire prongs.
Incidentally, in this episode, the writer even put in a device necessery for camoflage to let one walk around undetected in a borg vessel. That's almost good writing!

Considering what we've seen of the insides of cubes, they could make decent "Haunted houses".
I would land them on various planets (with the government's permission of course) and turn them into Haunted Cubes (tm).
I would sell most of the drones to the empire to supplement their slave labour, while keeping some to maintain the cubes.
Collecters may mant some of the technology, which I will gladly give them.
With all this income, I may be able to buy surplus starships, and will set up manufacturing facilities (with newly purchased SW tech). Droid or Starfighter manufacturing shouldn't be too dificult.
This could conceivably be done in 10 - 20 years, while allowing me to spend the rest of my life on Couruscant managing my cormporation.

I will explain this to your pea-brain the best I can without using the sort of behavior that would cause the mods to give me the evil eye. If you've ever been around a little kid, not too litte but young enough, and you are having a casual conversation, you have probably had to explain something because said kid interpreted it literally. "Hey, that football team has too won a game in the past million years, they haven't even been around for that long and they still won three times last year" Or something like that.l33telboi wrote:Am i getting this right? Well my crack against Borg-enthusiast Trektards (Robert Walper wherever you may be) may not have been 100% accurate, whatever, the point still got across and all vivftp wanted to do was nitpick. Nitpicking a minor detail while ignoring the point made by Ted C about how it is completely fucking retarded for the Borg to allow intruders free run of the ship until they percieve some "threat". Rather than addressing THAT issue, we continue with the nitpicking of an obvious exaggeration. Did anyone else go out of their to point out that what I said wasn't entirely true? No, they interpreted as what it was intended to be, a crack against what many people on this board consider to be shitty writing for an otherwise good attempt at creating a good sci fi villiain.
But please 133tleboi, live up to your namesake and reputation and consider to stir the pot if you like, but please do it in PMs or otherwise because I don't want to be a part of another episode in the HoS.

Bloody hell. You make a mistake, I point it out, you backpeddle claiming you were exaggerating then get on your fucking high and mighty routine.
Nothing more, nothing less. And what in the blue hell do Ted Cs points have to do with this? NOTHING. This is only about your error and me correcting it. In your mind your intentions may have been otherwise, but what you posted did not come across as such. At least have the friggin' sense to realize that.

If so you are fucking stupid, aren't you? This little sidetrack between Darth Fanboy and myself has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. It only has to do with him making a retarded comment (weather you choose to believe him when he says he was exaggerating is another issue) and me correcting it. Then him getting uppity because I apparently had the gall to correct his highness.
Sorry, but when someone comes into this thread, adds absolutely nothing, snipes at someone else from the sidelines, criticizes the thread starter because of a completely unrelated topic... yeah, that makes that person fucking stupid.Stark wrote:Yeah, and anyone referring to your attitude, displayed in the immediately previous post, must be 'fucking stupid'.
