Something I remembered.Where the hell did you get that idea from ?
ahh, I see, so the other planet destruction incidents Ive given several times now are irrelevent why ?
I don't believe the fact that I have to answer this, they are unverifiable hyperbolic and dramatic lines that nothing usefull can come from except style over substance arguments.
[Q]I mean, 7 planets "obliterated" in the macharius crusade, 3 planets "ripped apart" in the Calth system, Tanith magna bombarded out of existance and dieing as a "tiny flash in the distance" [/Q]
7 planets obliterated, so what? Can you tell me how long it took, how many ships and with how much force, can you also account for the dramatic descriptions impact on anything remotly, can you tell me exactly what obliterated means then without being incredibly subjective? For all we know it can be 7 planets shattered or 7 planets destroyed with asteroid strikes or something, it's totally un-calcuable.
And again three planets ripped apart is also an unverifiable claim, ofcourse I'd also like the source for this.
And Tanith Magna, you already provided a quote that goes against that, it describes the world as it should be after say an Imperial BDZ, then all of a sudden, without any reason for it, the planet core goes crazy and explodes(what is it with 40k worlds and exploding cores?) and this creates a flash of light that signals it's death.
-paraphrased from Straight Silver, pg. 86
I'm sure all very impressive quotes that shows 40k IoM fleets to be able to destroy worlds, in an unknown timespan and unknown numbers and so on, but they don't provide anything as good as the Retribution example and it's 13h bombardment of a moon, thats still the best we got and frankly, the firepower there would be sufficient given enough time and numbers and other unknown factors we never know about.
Anyhow, a low end, mid-end and high-end then for the retribution with 3 lances(each firing in 30 second bursts):
1000km diameter moon - 7GT/s - 210GT per shot
2000km diameter moon - 55GT/s - 1.6TT per shot
3000km diameter moon - 400GT/s - 12TT per shot(stretching credibility here for a small moon)
These are the only real figures I can come up with and personally, even with the low-ends the other feats you have displayed are not impossible to accomplish.
Very hyperbolic scene too, tells us nothing, the planets crust might as well have been the think thats breaking up for all we know given how utterly dramatic and hyperbolic the descriptions are, and planets don't just start to break up either, so it's clear it's not as straightforward as you'd like to say, and it's certanly not usefull for any sort of calc.Caliban "breaking up" BEFORE the warp storm
These examples all tells us, well jack & shit, I'd let you know it's possible to achieve all these things with sub-TT weapons, time and knowing what you are doing.World Eaters, destroying "several planets" on their path to the eye
